Hi, if your still about did you get it sorted? Just having a new clutch done on mine and they have come back with a transfer box bearing gone which apparently requires specialist fitting.

Not sure, one youtube video I watched is at 12 mins into this video he discusses cars with 'push clutch to start' and the pressure applied to the crankshaft. Only the 2.0 TFSI, EA113, K04, S3AP, MK6 Golf R and Leon Cupra engines are mentioned.

Is that 130,000 miles or is an extra 0 in there, sounds a reasonable mileage if not? Least there was a fix kit for it.

So it was crankshaft end float that was your problem? What engine and mileage were you running?

Got it, I'm a moose, the cover is attached to the flywheel so the whole assembly spins on the end, applying clutch release pressure is the only lateral force. Still, how do I easily check my thrust bearings?

Having slept on it, yes my dreams are wonderful, surely if your pressing the clutch pedal you are removing the lateral force on the crankshaft? Apparently the problem isn't just 2.0 TFSI, it's also on EA113, K04, S3AP, Mk6 Golf R and Leon Cupra's.
