Thanks for this guys. It is the power steering pressure sensor. Looks like it's been blanked off by a previous ownership just wrapped the sensor round other hoses. Major issue?

Just wondering what the demand for parts is like out there these days? I'm considering breaking and wondered if anyone could give me any do's/dont's/tips. I haven't made my mind up yet and want to make an informed decision as to the challenge and potential reward. Cheers folks

Mmmmm.... This is ****** ********s! No way im forking out to replace what is otherwise a perfectly good seat. I pulled the side panel off yesterday to try and fix it but can't get it back on and now it doesn't tilt OR slide I can't believe how much hassle this is causing

TJ did you have any joy solving this problem? I'm pulling my hair out. My S3 failed it's mot because the driver seatwont slide using the side lever. I've had a look and can't see anything broken like in other threads. If you managed to work it out you're goin straight in my top ten people ever

Nope... Not the secondary air pump. BAM engines don't have them apparently

2002 S3 BAM I think it has had something deleted. There's an open hose with a metal inner in the bottom front driver side corner of the engine bay. I'll have a search on the secondary air pump idea. Thanks.

no, it's a ribbed electrical connector. The one in your link is a smooth, shorter hide with a different connector, and can also be seen in my 2nd pic

And it has a purple connector...
