Yep that makes perfect sense, thanks a lot. Got the new linkage in. Just tried fitting the wipers on but the splines on the inside of the wiper arm seem like they've nearly worn away. Might have to get new ones of them too.

I figure this would be similar to driving my old hilux surf around in 4WD all the time. They don't have a centre diff and this causes axle wind when in 4WD so Toyota recommend only switching to 4WD on surfaces when the wheels can slip a bit. Don't know if it would be different with the haldex...

Just looking through the service history and it doesn't look like the brake fluid has been changed in a while. I'll get onto it. Not really sure how to check brake pads, but I can see at least 10mm of pad all round. Do i just go on what I can see or is there more to it than that? Thanks, John.

Hmm yeah I gues it is very subjective as to how loud is too loud... Most of my previous cars have been around the same kind of age and I never noticed anything like this before, but then I never had a six speed 4wd car before!

Another quick one! I read somewhere on here that it's meant to come on with the ignition. Should it do this absolutely every time without fail? Just noticed mine isn't doing it today, either with the engine stopped or after a run. Cheers, John.
