Shame.. I wonder what the previous owner did with the foam. Can't see a good reason to remove it.. I can cope with the technical - over 50 years in electronics - but I only have VCDS, not VCP. For now I think with a bit of surgery I can make the foam items I bought fit tidy. I'll have a go at...

Ouch! I looked at the price of the Sachs organic clutch, then thought about what else I'd change (dual mass flywheel, release bearing etc.) and the total, even doing the work myself is more than I can entertain at the moment. Guess I'll settle for 230hp for a few months until the bank balance...

If I understand oil spec', the "75" refers to the viscosity of the oil when it's cold. Since the problem only happens when it's cold, I suppose either of these oils would give the same result..?

I was thinking of using the Fuchs. It says it meets the VAG G052911 spec'. I just wondered if anyone has used a lighter oil (and if it helped)?

Looking around I see that some people go for a lighter oil (not necessarily this gearbox). Any thoughts?

Hi, It's difficult selecting gears - as if the synchro isn't working - on my S4, especially when cold. I don't think I have clutch drag, so first thing to do (I suppose) is to change the gearbox oil. Is the manual box a "sealed for life" unit, like the auto, or is it scheduled maintenance...
