Possibly injectors, try different gas station/premium diesel or fuel line cleaner. I notice a big difference switching between gas stations, usually around 2000-3000 RPM, even when engine is hot. Shell V power is worse for injectors sound.

Hi Jay! Maybe I can try to help. I'm driving 2016. A3 with this engine and have done a lot of research regarding performance upgrades on this engine. Engines are NOT the same, more important gearbox is not the same (MQ200 vs MQ250). Yes, you can easily tune this engine to around 160HP and 250NM...
