thanks for the info! We only got to complete the installation today. since fuses 5 & 6 were already used by the car (Bi-Xenon headlights leveling modules) we had to settle for another free fuse (number 11 if I’m not mistaken which is for high beam assist).
tapping into the CAN lo/hi wires...
I’m in the process of retrofitting rear PDC to my 2011 A3 sport back. Since there isn’t much information online, I wanted to ask which fuse am I supposed to use for the PDC.
I’m using a Kufatec harness which has two CAN wires, and one wire with a pin that looks to be like a fuse pin.
Thank you for the quick replies. I know that there’s an X crosshairs inside but I’ve done it on newer cars. My question is does the 8P also have this on all models? I’ve only seen this on the 8V and Golf MK7 but no info online on the 8P having this.
gonna retrofit PDC on my MY2011 8P soon, got all parts.
Anyone know if the bumper has cross hair marks to indicate where to cut the holes on the 8P? I know the 8V has them but not sure if the 8P does.
Just throwing an update here. The friend ended up buying the VAS 6614/1 and we tried with a piece of bumper from a salvaged car - the result was super clean compared to the aftermarket/AliExpress tools. Looks like the extra 0.2mm is needed for the outer rubber ring.
188$ for a kit is not so bad, as I'm planning to use it for several other vehicles. VAS 6614/1 looks good, but I'm not sure if I can use it out-of-the-box, or I need another part for it, as it seems to be a part of a kit (/1).
Ah, I understand now. I think I faced the same issue with my installation on the MK7. Because the brackets were too thick (OEM brackets are nowhere to be found for sale), the sensors did not sit 100% flush.
I found this hole kit: https://www.killertools.com/Bumper-Perfect_p_27.html which I'm...
Interesting. If so, I assume the 18.2mm is the same for the 8P if you had to sand it. I wish there was some way to verify it.
I see you used a step drill bit, I actually used a bumper punch kit for this which makes the work much easier and cleaner.
I installed PLA on my MK7 and it's an awesome...
Thanks a lot for the reply. 100% of the posts on the 8V and on the Golf MK7 mention 18mm as well, but some forum member found out that it's actually 18.2mm, because with 18mm they don't sit 100% flush. I think the extra 0.2mm is for the paint thickness.
Also, I'm not sure how it is...
Coming from a 8V, trying to help a friend with a 2011 8P to retrofit PLA. We already got all the parts, but I'm not sure what are the right sizes for the holes in the bumpers.
I'd like to know the right sizes for all sizes. On the 8V and the Golf MK7 it's 18.2mm for the regular...
I ordered 3B7601171 because it's relatively cheap and it seems it will fit by size. The clips may be different but it shouldn't be hard to modify. I also ordered a chinese replacement for a custom 60mm size that might fit as well.
Thanks a lot.
Thank you for the quick reply.
The wheels are already fitted on his car but with the Audi caps.
I found the Audi caps on Amazon, it says it's 60mm. I'm not sure if they mean the outside (badge side) is 60mm. What do you mean by "diameter of the hole"?
My buddy has a VW Golf MK 7.5 and I gave him my original 17" A3 8P wheels (P/N 8P0601025AL).
The caps on these wheels have P/N 4B06011707ZJ. He wants to put VW caps but we need to know the exact size of these caps or the equivalent P/N for VW.
I can't find any information on ETKA, any way to...
I've been an owner of an A3 8V Sportback 1.4 for a few years now. I sold it a few months ago, had some issues with work and now that I have a new workplace, I started saving money for a newer car and in the meantime I wanted a car for daily drives. I didn't want a "normal" car...
