Hi guys. just an update. So after a couple of months of pondering about whether to keep or scrap my car i decided to replace the engine . Got one out of a 10 plate golf which drove into the scrap yard after a rear end shunt so had been written off. Same cba engine and only 67000 on the clock...

Thought about it but just cant justify an extra £600 on the car considering its age and probably not worth much more than £1850 . Just been thinking about all the added extras and work done on it in the last few years. Cambelt and water pump. Brand new Febi Bilstein egr and anti judder valve...

Hi kudi009. Good find that thread m8. Wish id found it myself 6 years ago. Seems i was lucky to get to 143000 miles on mine. Mine had 111000 on the clock when i bought the car and nothing in the stack of paper work said anything about it being done previously. Although one invoice says cambelt...

Update. So cost of fixing the engine is coming to upwards of 2 grand up to now which isn't worth doing due to the age of the car . Now exploring options of a second hand engine and finding a decent mechanic willing to do the swap if i can find a decent replacement .

Hi. When you say ambient lighting do you mean puddle/courtesy lighting or internal door handle lights or footwell lights ? cheers eddo

By the looks of the brown speaker plug it only has connections and cables for front left and right speakers . Are you sure your have speakers in the rear doors ? There maybe speaker grills but some cars didn't come with rear speakers installed Was your original radio a symphony ?
