    MMI still blowing fuses

Think I’ve found it. Read through the wiring diagrams and it was pointing to the J794 unto which I eventually found out to be the CD slot/ SD card slot unit. So pulled that out and found this behind it. And a corresponding burn mark on the top edge of the unit. I’ll get a new length of wire...

    MMI still blowing fuses

I would of said it was a short myself too. The fuse that’s blown doesn’t seem to be controlling anything else as everting else on the car works perfectly apart from the MMI. Reckon I’ll get one of the lads at work to do a test on it and see what they say. Sounds like a short to me just didn’t...

    MMI still blowing fuses

How do I find that out? Not got a wiring diagram for it. Another thing I’ve noticed over the last couple of days though is the back lighting behind the instrument cluster flickers every now and then. Not sure if this is related though....?

    MMI still blowing fuses

Right I thought I’d sorted this problem. Basically when the screen retracts into the dash it seems to blow a fuse every now and then but it’s happening more often now. its also started blowing the fuse without the screen unit plugged in. As soon as the fuse touches the terminals it sparks and...

    Sensor for cylinder head temperature

Looks like a coolant temp sensor. I guess if the ecu doesn’t know the water temp then the stop start won’t operate?

    MMI blowing fuses

Right everyone. I appear to have cured this issue. However the slightly annoying thing is I don’t know how. So tonight I removed the screen. I followed a YouTube video but it was way over the top in terms of what needs removing. Basically you need to remove the plastic trim above the screen and...

    MMI blowing fuses

Let’s be hoping it’s a trapped wire then. Strange how it went all of a sudden though. Last week the screen did switch off then straight back on again

    MMI blowing fuses

Hmmm sounds bad. Saw a video earlier on how to remove the MMI unit. Didn’t seem too bad. Never heard of component protection before. What’s that?
