Sorry, should have clarified - the rear ones. I don't think the front ones will fit from the LCR, but the front rear from a TT will, will be look at those when those wear out :)

Hi, My A3 is in need of replacement rear trailing arm bushes, and under the principle of "if it wears out - upgrade!" I'm thinking about the above. I'm just wondering about their longevity - do they last about the same as the regular A3 items?

I have a 1.6 Sport as well, they're practically identical to the 1.8 Sports, same checked interior, sports steering wheel, 6 spoke 15" wheels etc :)

Ahh! Apologies, I was confused, the wire for the ambient light's +12V isn't present on Polos, Golfs, etc that use the same type pre-facelift smaller light, I thought the Audis were the same ;)

I've fitted the pre-2000 type to a Polo 9N of all things, for a friend of mine :) The light itself is from a Passat W8, similar this one...

That kit is awfully expensive. If you've got a 2000-2003 A3 with the larger interior light, you can use the A3 8P part, which fits the exact same way. The part number is 8E0 919 063A, and costs about €10.

Hey thanks for looking anyway! Would certainly make sense if it's an air leak post-MAF. The symptoms do remind me of how an old Golf I had which had a broken seal between the carb and the head used to behave!

Interestingly, my starter does stick.....it tends to run for a second or two after the engine starts. Haven't had any smoke from under the bonnet, but if it matches Dan's symptoms we may be seeing a line of common faults to follow up. Would be great to see that invoice alright JBW, we could...

What do you think caused the smoke under the bonnet Dan, an oil leak perhaps and it was the oil burning off? Mine definitely used to have a leak, there's a healthy layer of cruddy oil around the back of the engine!

Yes that sounds painfully familiar! You've ruled out so many of the obvious suspects that it has to be something funny like that. Would have thought MAF like Tastyterrier said when the TB and temp sender were ok. Although an electrical problem should throw a code, shouldn't it? It's a pity...

Hey, thanks for the reply :) Insofar as I can tell there's no particular pattern. Sometimes it's when the engine's cold, sometimes when it's hot, and with varying levels of severity when it does happen. I did hook it up to VAG-COM to check for codes, and nothing on the engine side of things...
