I’ve got a service kit to do on it soon, I don’t think it’s dpf model, exhaust points down and no dpf light available on dash, but could be wrong! just seems like such an odd issue

No idea, just does not smell right, really foul smell, almost like its been decatted/dpf deleted, I am unsure if this year had a DPF as the exhausts point down towards the ground.

This is the BGU engine, it's known for rough idling and shakes I can feel engine vibration in the driver seat, and the idle does feel rough? Don't know if it's just what the engine is like or it can be fixed
