Well, it's done now but maybe next time I'll do a lot more looking around for the part.

Well, the new sensor did the trick - headlights back to levelling correctly and no longer pointed 2 inch in front of the bumper :). Thanks for the advice all.

What is the best method to remove the plastic wheel liner fasteners? I have tried a flat blade driver with little success and thought there must be a 'proper' method/tool. I would also need to purchase some new ones, but can't find any on ebay etc... that look the same/similar - any suggestions?

I've found some on the web for £40, will they do the job well and without causing errors that are picked up by VCDS? Or is it best to just get the part from Audi which they say costs £129 inc VAT and comes with the new arms and bracket. There seems to be a big difference in price :'(

I have tinkered today and it appears that the front level sensor is faulty. Anyone have the part number and/or recommendation of a parts supplier?

I'm on that method tomorrow... I was only asking about the light to try and understand if the headlights know which side they are from via manufacturing or coding etc... I'm knew to this VCDS stuff and just trying to understand the diagnostic system and cars electronics as a whole. Thanks.

hey... that's what I was expecting with this whole swapping idea. Does that mean then that a brand new headlight unit for the left side would need to be coded for the left hand side? Also I have elsawin and I am trying to find the self-diagnostic section for an 8P Audi A3 but it doesn't seem to...

Ok... so I have removed the front bumper and what an awful pain that was :'( and I have swapped the entire headlight units around. Below is the new autoscan - it appears that the faults are the same - does this mean the fault is in the wiring or head units? Any help appreciated...

Nope.. there has been no work done on the car at all. Does each headlight know which side they belong to then? I mean, if i swap the headlight units should I expect to see a fault on the right side light as opposed the left?
