Hi guys i know we see 100s of theses but i really need to establish the value of my motor,
i had a bump a few weeks back the car is going to be repaired by my mates bodyshop, however my mate loves the car and has asked if i would sell him it for his girlfriend,
The cars is a 2001 face lift S3, and basiaclly has every factory extra, aluminium mirrors, cruise control, heated seats, armrest etc etc, car has usuall mods, revo map, forge dv, 18" rstt, supersprint exhaust etc
It has only covered 52k with history but sadly was previously listed as cat c within the first 2 months of its life, the car will be mint i as i plan a full paint job, i never had any intention of selling as i love it and had over 2 years of trouble free motoring but my mate has got me thinking and i could be tempted to change with a new baby due to arrive next week!
the car is silver and has unmarked half leather and silver alcantara trim
He is really keen to do a deal so i apreciate any input guys
cheers

Trouble is you're gonna lose alot of money by getting a full respray and then selling, unless your mate is going to reimburse you the cost of it? Cat C/D normally knocks the price down by one third I think?? maybe £2.5k of normal list price. Could be wrong. I've always found that you only get 1/3, maybe 1/2 your money back from mods aswell. Your low milage is in your favour though.

Find one similar spec/colour and it would be approx. 2/3rd of the value if it was Cat D registered, not too sure on Cat C though, as damage would have to be pretty heavy for a 2 month old car to be written off!

i am not paying for the respray its going to be sorted through the insurance via my mates body shop thats why he is keen to do a deal he can claim top dollar for the repair, ive just been looking they vary in price low miles seem to be silly money if they are selling shame its on the list because its a mint car, very very little evidence of it being cat c
would i be doin well to get 6k for it?

With that yr and mileage thier pulling between 5k and 7k dep on how mint yr motor is. Yr mods need to be taken into consideration so id say same as finesse 5.5-6k

In my opinion you'd be lucky to see £5k. CAT D's are undesirable enough, but I'd say 90% of potential buyers won't even consider a CAT C and will not bother irregardless of condition or mileage.

Put it this way, I sold my 2001 Nogaro blue facelift with Bose, arm rest, heated seats, chrome mirrors, FSH, with 114k on the clock for £4,800. It had a leaky exhaust manifold granted, but other than that it was well cared for, had just been serviced and was in good nick inside and out.

am laughing too mate, i said 6k because thats what sort of deal am looking at, mate will give me 4 as it stands and says he will give me the insurance money too, to be honest lads it may be a cat C but id put money on it being better than 90% of s3 out there, question is what can i buy with 6k that would be simillar spec performance???

Nothing

you could downgrade to;

Clio Sport
Focus RS MK1
Focus ST
Honda Type R
Honda Integra Type R

or the wildcard
BMW E39 M5 (bit more cash)
