Heloooooooo everybody! Need some help. My mums polo has decided to play about so its about time we bought her a new car. The budget ranges up to about £1500 for a small car, low tax band and something good and reliable to her. However i have been looking on autotrader and have a blank mind. I have no idea what to look for! Some help?

KA maybe or a Polo - Maybe an Ibiza - Or if you're lucky you might be able to get a Fabia?

I think my dad's been put off polo's but i'll still look.. KA's. mm i didnt think of them! Just remembered the puma's aswel!

Avoid the Vauxhall Corsa C as they are utter utter tut (actually just avoid Vauxhalls). I would also avoid the KA as it uses the old Endura engine which is essentially the same engine that was used in the old Ford Cortina, not a good engine and tends to be very noisy. Would steer clear of anything French as well. Al the comments from experience.

Personally I would look at the 1.25 Ford Fiesta especially the Ghia varients as they have all the elctric toys and are pretty nippy for such a baby engine. VW Polo is also a blinder, my sister had one (a bad one) and it still went on and on, can have problematic instruments clusters which are expensive to rectify? Seat Ibiza?

seat ibiza gets my vote, fella out of work got a 98 and it just keeps going after 2 crashes and some1 reversing into the side..

Not sure you'd get a Puma - Though they did do a 1.4 variant.

Oranoco - The later KA's had the same engines as in the Fiestas (Duratec i think) - My mate had one - I used to love driving it as it went around corners like a go-kart. Without doubt one of the best cars i've ever driven. Made me drive like i'd knicked it...

Fiesta, Fabia.

Ka`s are bad on stearing racks but a fairly cheap fix, just in short demand as they still use the mk2 fiesta one lol

Mk2 golf now that would be like stepping back in time they are so dated now I think only a fan would have one.

Pumas have problems with rear arches rotting from the few i`ve delt with

Only the Sport and Street Ka's received the Duratec the normal car remained on the Endura E. Agreed though, cracking fun

I would say polo as well mate, just got one for the missus, cracking car, cant go wrong really, oh and its a dub as well :)

God no!!! Headgasket issues and loads of electrical problems. Dealt with loads of them. Even the Corsa would be a better option:faint:

pmsl, you're probably right.

I had my '52 Punto for 2 years without a single fault though I think I was lucky as everyone else seemed to have dozens of faults.

im selling my ibiza if your willing t come collect it from ireland>? hahah

umm a nice wee corsa is pretty reliable! althought i had a corsa for 5days and managed to roll it into a field but i think your mum would be a bit wiser than I! lol

Lol! Woahh irelands abit too far lol. I've been looking at a few polo's, seem pretty decent. Found a few fiesta's aswel with very low mileage but the problem being that most people havnt tax'd them? Stilll on the lookout though! :ninja:

Tax... Tight git! It'll prob only be £40!

Lol yeah i dont mind taxing it, but they have all been like 20-30 miles away and i cant drive that many miles without tax for the car? I dont mind taxing it but the people seemed dodgey!
