The car will be built on the same platform as today’s Golf and feature a MacPherson strut type suspension up front and a four link set up in the rear. Under the hood Audi will use the new turbocharged 1.2 Liter TFSI engine that replaces the current entry level power plant. The German automaker will also offer a 1.4 Liter making 140 HP, a 1.8 Liter making 170 HP and a 2.0 Liter TFSI unit making 210 HP. The factory tuned S3 will use the 2.0 Liter unit, except output is bumped up to 280 HP.

Audi will also offer the next generation A3 with diesel power with a new 1.6 Liter TDI engine that makes 105 HP and features a fuel saving automatic stop/start feature. Like the current A3, the 2011 model will be offered with a front-wheel drive power train and Audi’s signature Quattro all wheel drive. The new A3 will be shifted with either a six speed manual or a seven speed DSG gearbox.

Ahh... looks very nice, although the grill looks a bit small!

The headlights remind me of a SAAB, and the wheelbase looks extremely long!

or is that just me being picky?

Yes that has been seen before, but it looks seriously weird & tbh atm not to my liking, but each to there own.

Agreed!

Actually, come to think of it, looks a bit like a mini hearse! lmfao :lmfao:

Thats what it reminded me of, it so does aswell, its like the back end is trying to twist round to the front aswell, lmfao

But you notice how low the ride is, it cant be real, lmfao, wheels are also right upto the lips aswell.

Yeah & maybe sort out the bonnet fitment aswell

All I want is an electronic handbrake to get round the poxy handbrake issue lmfao

Seen that around before, it's almost a year old now and I don't think it's too accurate. Last I heard is that the new A3 was due in 2012 and was to be based on a brand new platform which the later Golf Mk VII would be based on... no guarantees on that either though.

Got this quote from the Fourtitude forum...

"MotorTrend's May '10 edition wrote VWs future plans as "VW's Master Plan"

It talked about VW group's plan to be the world's largest automaker by 2018, The article talked about the new VW releases for the year, including U.S.
The layout also pointed out the new Jetta, Amarok, Touareg,Phaeton, New midsized sedan, Neu Beetle, and the Passat.

"Passat- The New Passat will make irs debut at Paris in september. As with the transition from Golf Mk5 to Golf Mk6, this is basically a deep face-lift.......The Passat will actually be short-lived. VW will put a new generation about 2014 on its remarkable new modular transverse matrix or MQB. Like MLB* (The new Audi A8 is on MLB - modular Longitudal platform), it's a range of component groups that can be slotted into cars of sizes ranging from supermini to Passat, including crossovers.
The first car to get the MQB is the next Audi A3 in 2012"-MotorTrend

*MQB,MLB- are not ''conventional body-based platform". The term, according to the article, refers to a suspension, a series of powertrains and electronics architecture, climate systems, seat frames, and so on. The cars can share a wide variety of sizes and body materials. The new Audi A8 is aluminum Mlb, the Phaeton on steel, and its distant cousin, using mix of both metals will be for the Continental."

The only think I like from the whole car is the small grille. Then the front looks like a chinese person (no offence).Overall good news as holder cars hold their value more.

The crease on the lower part of the sides is the same as the BMW 1 series :sadlike: the front bumper looks a bit naff , headlights look ok though

Wow you lot are sucked in!(N8 excluded) The front end is clearly an A1, the side profile is clearly a current A4 avant, the wheels have been upped in size, lowered to the floor!

Its a photoshop! It doesnt exist, its only an image of how autocar think it might look.

Do none of u realised this is just yet another lame photoshop from Autocar, who like Autoexpress and CAR magazine, pride themselves on new car 'scoops' which they have just pulled off the net or have had their graphic design monkey conjure up!
