Black Edition

If only VW badges had been so sturdy in the 80's ;-)

You can add a "s-line badge to a BE grill see page 10 from thread

I ordered the badge from the dealer the part no's are:

Gen part no#s

Badge 4F0853736A2ZZ
Clips 8L0807180

As part of the deal I got them to put the badge on for me as it's meant to be a tricky ****** to fix.

Someone did put the following instructions on here on how to fix:

Slide 1 clip in at a time into the back of the horizontal slat either side of the vertical slat. Try and get the spacing right first time as trying to move them once
on is a nightmare and is likely to scuff the slat. Suggest you put one clip in then measure against where the badge fits to get the other side right.

Push the badge hooks into the clips..one side at a time is easier...once it clicks your in ! Now do the other side and job done...!

You will need to push pretty hard to get the clips in

Thanks to the original poster for the fixing instructions

Good Luck

Not sure if i've missed something, but what revisions will there be for the 2011 model year car that will be built from July? I just ordered an A3. Is it worth cancelling and holding off for the revised car? Don't want to get one (currently slated for early August delivery) only to have it be outdated immediately on collecting it.

Do all your guys Black BE's turn a lot of heads? More heads than an Ibis would?

Sounds very much like me! Clio 182 cup also appears amongst the long list of cars I've had over the past few years, although I'm probably going to pass my 330Ci onto the missus as she only does a few miles a week so I'm hoping the fuel bill won't be too excessive

As you say, it's also the lack of worry of running a company car which is hard to ignore. I've been opting out and for the first couple of years I ran a 130i Msport, which is the only car I've ever bought myself from new. It was a fantastic car but in the end I just had to sell it as I couldn't stop worrying about it! Depreciation hit me hard as the recession was just starting to bite, Government were proposing the £500 silly tax, fuel was upto £1.25 (yep, and we're almost back there now) and I daren't leave it anywhere! In the A3 I'm going to have all my private fuel paid too, so no excuses not to get out and rack up some miles! :racer:

What did you think about the 182? I was very happy with it but it's build quality got to me in the end. Great fun though.

Awesome that you get your private fuel paid too. I'm not quite that fortunate but having most of the running costs taken care of will suit me just fine!

Sounds great! Are you changing the interior at all i.e. alcantara/ leather from cloth/ leather? Any interest in heated seats? Not sure what else people might suggest.

Out of interest - who have you ordered the car through? I ordered my Ibis BE 3 door back in February and I'm now being told it will be August/ September before I get delivery. I'm not happy and enquiring into this change (was due end of May) but therefore wondered who has given you this date and how confident they were with it? :)

The interior will be Black/Sliver.

Current car as heated seat and i don't hardly use them, so not had them on my A3.

I ordered the car with Audi Stoke they told me that there are currently no delays on the A3 BE and a eta of end of June. But i should be getting a built date in about 10 days time.

My car has been on order since early March and I'm still waiting for a build date :sadlike:

If you can ring up and cancel the I Pod connection. It's pants. Spend the money on something else.

I ordered mine on Feb 14th - a black, BE sportback - and I pick it up on Saturday... nearly 2months to the day.

Maybe an obvious statement but I think the white versions are taking much much longer to deliver

Or is it 3 door A3's? All the issues I've seen with delivery being pushed out seems to be on 3 door models.

Original pic I took at the dealer of the new silver BE seems to have gone so here's another try

Yep 182 was great fun. My missus is hinting she might like to swap the BMW for something smaller like a Cooper S, but if I had my way it'd be another 182!

The company fuel isn't all it's cracked up to be as I've got to pay a chunk more income tax, but at least it means there's no limits on the mileage I can do because the fuel tax is a fixed amount (based on emissions) and not linked to mileage (planning on doing a nice 1000 mile road trip as soon as I get it :) )
IIRC the total tax burden for a fully fuelled BE is somewhere in the region of £180 per month (car and fuel)

I ordered a red sportback BE at the end of feb and my build week is next week , dealer says mid may delivery

Finally got our Ibis BE last week. Well impressed!!!

We ordered Silver Wheels and Brushed Aluminium inserts, but it turned up with Titanium Wheels and Piano Black Inserts :-(

The car is a company car for my wife, so we got in touch with the lease company, who in turn contacted Audi. Audi were initially insistent that Silver wheels and Brushed Alu inserts were not an option on the BE (we ordered it in Dec). We argued, and after a few hours they conceded that we were "absolutely right" after all. They have said they'll swap the wheels and inserts soon. Trouble is, both the wife and myself are getting more and more used to the Titanium alloys!

Now I reckon most people on here will say to keep the Titanium alloys, but we still like the look of the silver ones. What should we do???

Whatever we decide with the alloys, we're definitely going to change the inserts, as the Piano Black ones are a nightmare - they show all finger marks, and you only have to touch them to scratch them.

Anyway, everything else is great with the car. I currently drive a BMW 530d, and the A3 is every bit as good a drive. The 2.0 TDi (140) is obviously nowhere near as powerful, but it feels nippy enough, and is super smooth and quiet. The gear change is super slick too, which is nice after driving my auto. The DRL's together with the white front/black grille look stunning, and get loads of attention. So glad we went for white as well. It looks great and is so much easier to keep looking great than black. It's bad enough trying to look after those black inlays!

Another real nice surprise (as we didn't actually test drive an A3 - I know, very silly), is how good the ride is. After reading What Car mag reviews, we thought the ride was going to be very firm. What a load of tosh. It is brilliant - IMO the perfect balance of road holding and comfort. Far better than my "5" on run flats, and far far better than a 1 Series M Sport on RFT's!

I have just driven to North Wales and back from the Midlands today, and felt quite relaxed after the long journey. I went via the motorway and tried to drive as economically as possible, keeping to the speed limits (as always!!!). After 123 miles I averaged 59mph, and 60.7mpg! On the way back I had a blast over the mountains, and then a bit of motorway, at a quicker pace;-), but still averaged 52mpg. We've had it for just over a week now and done 1100 miles, and "Trip 2" is still set from Zero miles, and that shows an average of 49mpg. Quite happy with that after the 30mpg in my 5. Hopefully it will improve further as it loosens up a bit.

The only bad bits, so far: Most annoying thing was the door unlocking, only unlocking the drivers door, but now fixed by reading the manual properly and adjusting it via the menu!

Also, the cruise control lever is poorly positioned, me with my long fingers can just about reach it comfortably, but not very ergonomic.

The stereo seems to have a mind of it's own with the volume level. I presume it has a speed sensitive volume function, suppose I should have another read of the manual!:readit:

Anyway, I was only supposed to be posting on here to try and help me make my mind up about the alloys, but got a bit carried away. I'll try and put some photos up soon. Is this easy enough to do by linking to Facebook?

(If anyone has some pictures of an Ibis Sportback BE with the silver wheels, I'd like to see them, thanks).

SILVER or TITANIUM?

Does anyone have a PDF of the BE Sportback user manual? Want to get familiar with the car before I pick it up!

Presume iPod connection is the same as on my Eos (as it seems from previous threads) - it mimics a CD changer hence you can play your first 5 playlists as you would access CD 1 to 5 and CD6 is "random". No track information etc.

Expecting a phone call this morning as my 170BHP quattro BE should be at the dealer today. Collect it fairly soon...!

There used to be Cooper S on my company car list but they took it off a few months before I got to order. Would have gone for one for some fun, but hopefully the A3 will be pretty decent. The RS Clio's have so much character and I'd be interested in trying the 200 even though it's looks are a little strange. I did test drive a 197 which was nice but never felt very quick.

£180 a month is very good going for that! I'm not sure exactly what I'll be paying but it's probably around half of that but with no fuel included (unless on business journeys of course). I currently live down near Reading and will get up to the Lake District very soon after taking delivery to run it in and enjoy 50 MPG rather than the 20 I'm currently getting.

I'm getting more and more detail from the Audi dealer dealing with my car (Slough) and it looks as though each dealer gets a certain amount of allocations to work with for the models and then has to put in the extra as necessary. So some dealers will be fine to get cars to people quicker than others. In that case I will do all I can to get my car ordered from another, but it's taken two months to get to this point! Grrr lol

Good luck with your order! :)

Here are a few pics of mine, picked it up last week and absolutely love it.

Black Editions available in any colour these days then? When they first come out they were either black, white, silver or red! Now I have seen green and blue ones!

Blue looks great, whats the name of the colour?

How much extra did you have to pay 4 this colour? because when i place my order last week there was only black, white, sliver or red to choose from.

I didnt pay the upgrade as I picked this is Used last week.

But the guy who bought the car paid about £2400 for the colour, it it part of the Audi Exclusive range.
Personally I could not justify paying that much for the colour but as I was searching for a used i jumped on it and am absolutely chuffed to bits with it

Cheers Lee. The colour is Sepang Blue

Awesome, looks lighter than the other sepang blue i've seen, must be the sun!

In case you dont know, Sepang is an R8 only colour unless you pay the premium, looks like you found a gem getting one second hand, I very much doubt you will see another one the same :)

Looks like full leather too, does it have the exclusive interior to match? (will have a badge on door panel)

Yes it only had 4000 miles on so i was chuffed it's in mint condition.
Until I got hit by a flying stone on M6 yesterday and put a tiny chip on front of bonnet. Can I just pick up a touchup stick from dealer?

Yes it is full leather interior. What is the exclusive interior, how would i know? No badge on the door panel to my knowledge

Does your Phone Prep have a charger in the armrest? and do you have voice control? if so what its like?

No the charge dock was an additional £100

I havent used the voice control yet, I am told it works well thought.
I just scroll through phone book (displays on DIS) and push scroller to dial

Exclusive interior has leather armests on the doors, leather "A frames" by the gearstick and matching mats.

how much are you guys getting of list , ive just cracked a deal for a 170 be , and got 14% off list and he is giving me strong money for my s3 , cheers alan

Anyone any opinions on the wheels then?, and not one reply or comment on my mini "review" as yet :sadlike:
