i feel so ill

Don't know what to say mate. Makes me ill too. Sorry.

I guess when the time comes for repairs just make sure that the insurance company doesn't try to stick your car in a cheapo bodyshop.

I'm from East London too and know one or two very good bodyshops. Let me know if you want details.

Sorry to see what happened mate.

I had someone driving into the side of my car last month. Just where you got hit. Still waiting for his insurance to sort it out.

In fact insist that it is an Audi approved body shop to keep the 12 year rust warranty - that looks nasty and to me looks like it will need a new rear quarter - which is a fair bit of work.

Audi customer services can supply a list of the approved body shops in your area.

That is bad news and you get my sympathies, I hope that you managed to get witnesses to make the process easier.

they guy tried tellin me he has 5 years ncb and he knows a bodyshop that will do him a "good price" i have no sympathy for him he was bein a c**t and basically expected me to stop. i will take him to the cleaners. if i need any bodyshops ill let you know. hopefully audi will just help sort it out...

i have a witness. so i hope this makes it easier. it will def need a new rear quarter. its dented and creased. i cant see them attempting to knock it out. i dont want them to do that either!! the rear bumper is badly marked, down to primer in some areas. it looks like a very costly job tbh.

one positive thing to take from it all, the wheel is fine :o.k:

Well having an independent witness is going to help with the claim then, so that is something - well that and the wheel.

just sopke to audi, they are sayin sod my insurance company, go to them they will quote work and sort direct with the guys insurance? and rather than have a group a courtesy car ill get a s3? :respekt:

some immigrant

I take it by this you mean he wasn't insured - illegal driver and maybe illegal citizen too ?
In which case you'll get nothing will you ? Witness or not.
Nasty damage that though - not good to see.

no he was insured, fortunately..

biggest ******* i got is, havent told my insurance company bout my wheels yet, gonna hve to go geth them changed over again now :crying: wheel and tyre change!!!

Audi are going to do the job of your insurance company??

holy crap that does look like a new quarter RY :( hope you get sorted out ok and that TW4T gets what he deservs and the boot !

apparently so aythree....

dan mate, N8, im so affected.. its just such a longness...

Ouch! Real sorry to see that damage.:sorry:

I got that "let Audi sort out your crash repair" letter the other day. Keep us informed how that goes, as I would have thought that your insurance company would want to be quite involved...

i would say let your insurance company deal with the claim, but insist on going to audi... you're well within your right.

the alloy situation.... best change them b4 car goes to audi. they (your insurance company) can and probably will refuse to pay any costs until you pay them! letting audi sort it out rather than using your insurance company leaves you a bit out in the open as any costs audi can't recover may be passed to you, where as there is no risk like that involved with your insurance company, they will suck it up

deffo get a statement from the witness
(currently work in motor claims and have done for 8 years!)

Personally I would have called the Police straight away to visit the scene and take a report and that way you have the law on your side.

Inform your insurance company straight away and don't let a garage do any work until the 3rd party insurance company claims liability. This allows you to protect your NCB. Also you have it in your right to ensure the car is repaired by Audi. Sad to hear about the damage and I hope the car gets repaired to original standards.

That sucks man, you need 360 degree vision to drive in east london especially within the E1 area where half of those on the road are not even insured.

Hope you get it sorted soon!

Last time I had a prang the other party called the police and they didnt even bother to turn up. I think they only get invovled if its a major incident.

ok car is now with audi, they use an independant company to sort it out, audi quote the work the other company take all the details of the third party and basically sort it all out for you, amazing really! i have an audi a4 3.0tdi se being delivered tomorrow. so fingers crossed theyll sort it out nicely and well never know it happened....

tbh i was going to call the police but i always seem to just loose my composure when things like this happen.. :bye:

Same thing happended to me in my 8L S3 when i was side swiped by a bus. I just took it to my local garage, gave them the companies insurance details (after ringing them) and they did work and are chasing the guys insurance for the money. Did not even pick up the phone to my insurance company..

I don't get it.

What happens if the other person (or their insurance company) refuses to accept liability???
Who pays the repair bill then??

From my point of view, it's not my problem. But i know what you are saying if i owned the garage I would want notes in my hand and let the customer chase the insurance...

Yeap, I would of called the cops full stop, if he was trying his luck with bodyshop repair etc then no doubt he's got something to hide, possible no insurance, doesnt want a claim, no license, illegal in the country etc, take your pick, safe side would be call the cops end of, then they have to supply a verified amount of data to the cops & to you.

Sad to see this S3RYE. I know how you're feeling right now as I've been there myself but once it's repaired you'll begin to forget all about it.

I don't get it.

You do!

Basically its an accident management company that do all the work for you, they would fight any dispute on your behalf. This is a service a few manufacturers are providing free of charge now for a number of reasons .... firstly they will excercise your legal right to have your car fixed at a Audi Approved Bodyshop so they are getting the business of the insurance company, secondly they know you've had and accident and will say they know its had a quality repair sholdl you ever want to trade it in, but also they know that after an accident most people never feel the same about their cars and look to change and your local dealer will be given the heads up to dangle a carrot to temp you to change ...

And if they fight the case on your behalf and lose and the other person's insurance won't pay out????
What happens then?

Its a risk they take as long as both sides are covered by insurance the accident management company doesn't pay a penny it'll be your insurers that do that!

Ahhhh ok, so there is still the possibility that your own insurance company get involved/pays out/etc. It's what I thought.
The earlier posts just made it sound as though your insurance need never know there was even an accident.

Nooo they are notified but you as the customer don't need to do a thing! Just call the Accident Management company enjoy the courtesy car they provide and need not worry about the crap that goes on in the mean time and just wait for your car to be repaired

I'd rather be involved.

Sorry to disagree mate, but they do not have to turn up unless there is someone injured or its a hit and run. When my S2 got wrote off by a hit and run driver the Police attended but never even wrote a crime report. No matter how much I complained I was told the reporting officer had the final decision on whether to write a report. Bearing in mind I had 10+ witnesses and a full discription, bar the reg No of the other car,,,,,probably upset him when he started checking my car over and asking for my insurance as I politely asked him why he was assing around with me when the **** who just rear ended me is making his way to the nearest back street body shop to get the evidence rectified.

Also Gotta hope all the geometrys sound. I do kind of feel like
I won't feel the same about the car.

Mate, I didnt say the cops had to turn up, just said ring if you're concerned about the other driver & if they did arrive then the other driver would have his info checked as a matter of course aswell as yours iirc, A3TOM will confirm/deny this.

Sorry to see this mate, everytime I go out I dred something like this happening. I had it before where someone opened there door onto mine. Took it straight to an approved Audi bodyshop:icon_thumright:

The insurance company won't check the spec of your car will they... ?

I doubt they would worry about your wheels tbh mate.
