revo remap vs amd

Revo more aggressive, more push in the back midrange, AmD smoother power throughout rev range, both makes make similar top end peak power figures.

hi i have a amd remap i dont find it to great,i have asked if i can pay to go revo its an extra £50 wich i dont thinks to bad just would like to no if its worth swapping over plus on my amd remap im only boosting 13psi and i no it should be more 15-18psi thanks jojo for the info.

I'm running AmD stage1, it boosts to approx. 1.4BAR(1.96psi) then drops to 1.1BAR(15.4psi) at the top end of the rev range, according to my boost gauge. REVO I guess is more tweakable for future, but I'm happy with my AmD stage1.

go on google and get copies of the dyno plots

Could be a whole load of reasons... Car would need to be logged using VAGCOM to see what was happening, reading of fault codes (if any) and I would also check charge pipes for boost leaks and vacuum pipes for splits etc...

On a car as old as yours it could be anything from a split pipe to a tired turbo... No way of telling without going through the motions of diagnosing the probs... If you aren't sure what to do or don't have the required skills or tools then I would advise taking the car to a reputable VAG tuning specialist (no need for dealers)...

Not much else I can say that hasn't already been covered by other threads here...

Peaking to XXpsi and dropping to XXpsi is normal... just need to establish if 13/10psi is what the ECU is asking for.... if it is then there is no problem, its doing what it should... if the ECU is asking for more boost than that but the hardware is incapable of providing it, then you need to establish why through process of elimination...

Thanks tuffy,i am taking th ecar back to Amd saturday-sunday,They done the remap on the car and am going to swap over to a revo the only probs on my car was (signal low on the air flow mas ) thats all,but im guessin they should be able to find the problem, any split pipes or so,is it hard to find the problem with the right tools and brains,

Thanks alot for the reply any other help would be great thank you.... Lewis

essex amd sell revo maps and their own, i know two people who have bought both from there

Dose any body no y i would only be boosting 13psi then dropping to 10psi then ?
Are you getting any whistling noises? under boost i mean! if so prob a split hose, but if your only down 6psi the split will be small! also a few years back a pal of mine got a stone through his intercooler, that also was loosing boost! have a listen with the window down, you will hear turbo spinning up but try to listen for an abnormal whistling sound!
Good luck at weekend pal!:icon_thumright:

well, the girl with a ko3 (1998) a3 had the amd map, went from 154 to 190 (on the dot) bhp and it does have a good looking torque plot, not the usual stupid spike that then tails off like a diesel.

the guy got the revo map on a ko3s ibiza (cant remember the year, maybe 51). i cant remember the exact figures, but it was a shade over 200bhp, but with the usual stupid torque/boost spike. his does have a front mount and cone filter though.

ive not raced either car properly, but the plots for the a3 did look much better

Hi yes i do get a slight whistle,i will get amd to have a look as needs to be done, were would the pipe leak as i did have a split in a pipe dunno what it was for, just wanna no were to look and how will i find out keep the car running see if there is any air coming out ? Thanks guys

D00de... try and sort your posts into comprehensible sentences... Use puntuation and proper English as it really makes it difficult to understand what you are asking...

As I told you via PM, you need to check pipes coming off the inlet manifold and check the boost pipes etc coming from the turbo to the throttle body including the tightness of the jubilee clips etc of the joints particularly around the intercooler... if you aren't sure what you are looking for then google for engine bay pics etc to give you an idea or give all this info to AMD and let them look for you...

Good luck with it and hope you get it sorted :)

troppa, thinking of a map?

Not just yet as i'm happy with the stage 1 Superchips map i have at the mo. It came with the car so i couldn't complain and it saved me money for a map lol. I have sufficient mods for stage 2 so will be going Revo stage 2 at some point.
