Rear seat removal for non folding seats

im trying to take out the back seat on a A4 saloon, the base just comes out with ease, but for the love of chocolate i can not find any way to get the back surport part out, its the non fold down model on a B7 but its the same as a B6

Can anyone please tell me as im about to take a very sharp Stanley knife to it!

I tried to remove the back seat rest when I wanted to fit the IsoFix bars but in the end I was able to get them in without removing the back rest.
And I had these instructions from the workshop manual - see if you have any luck!?

it just lifts up and pops out,

got it out today, had to be a bit rough with the plastic head rest holders, basically i had to cut/smash/drill the heads off some of them and get the job done without damaging the seat itself,

I got some nice mouldy grass water all through my rear seats at the weekend, and now my car smells like a farm, and that's not even an exageration. I think I'll need to take the rear upright bit off too, to get it cleaned inside. Or is it possible to remove the back panel from the seats with them in place?

I have a wet/dry vax carpet cleaner, which has helped a bit, but not got rid of the smell yet.

And as for the base, one side lifts up, but i'm struggling with the other, can anyone confirm that gentle persuasion will get the base of the rear seat up?!

rear bench just lifts straight out (slight "pop" and then it's off, nothing broken).... why did you want the back out? ISOfix goes in fine with jsut the bench (botom section) removed.

I wanted the back out to give it a proper clean as dirty grass water soaked through it. Was gonna take back and bottom out and give them a proper soak in my garden to get all dirty water out of them. I'm so gutted about the smell. It is fading, but still strong.

I would have thought MOST of that would have been on the rear bench... not the back...

I had the rear seat folded down, and the bag on top of the back of the seat, so it went through that seat and into the bench. It sucks I know, and I think I may have to get it cleaned professionally. I had no idea that the bag was leaking water, thought it just smelt

Must remember to never rush to the tip just before closing time in the future!

I borrow a friends "dump-run" car... its a bit nicer than yr avg 20yr old pickup truck though: a 4litre Jeep Grand Cherokee... the engine capacity is misleading in two ways: it's slow as [expletive]... and it probably chews 5 litres of fuel doing the 2miles to the dump and back, easily that if you get caught in the queue... but even £6 in fuel is a small price to pay for keeping my A4 clear of garden-smells... saves dirt, scratches, etc... and he's pleased that somebody validated him having a hulking great 4x4....

I tried to get the rear seat base out again last night, and one side it just stuck. It appears that there is a 'u' shape of metal, with a plastic bracket which holds the seat on place on each side. One side has the plastic missing, and the seat just lifts out, the other side has the plastic there and is holding in place really well. It moves up about an inch, but just will not lift more.

Is there a way ti release this retaining clip (if that's what it is)

And on a side note, i'm guessing that my drivers side one has gone walkies, so i'd quite like to replace it, as my rear seat has always squeaked a little, and i'm guessing this is why. Any ideas on part no. anybody?

I believe those plastic clips are single use, and need to be replaced if you ever take out the rear bench as they are designed to break on removal.
I'm actually looking to get a couple for mine at the mo, the info I've been given is that the part number is 4B088637301C, and they should be less than a quid each.

sometimes they can have a good grip. you need to be heavy handed with them.
