Hi all I have recently purchased the 8p S3 Gearknob and Gaiter surround, I spent a while trying to find the part number only only to find there is a new part number for it!
Thought I would post it up here so it would be easy for people to find when using the search,
Audi do it with Red stitching on the gaiter or White, I will be using the Original gaiter surround so wasn't to bothered on colour of the stitching

This is the number for white stitching: 8P0 863 278 CC SZN

The price is £61.87 +Vat Hope this helps a few people out.

Cheers Matt

Will do mate will be at the weekend as havn't got much time to fit it before Christmas plus the battery for the camera's flat,

Cheers Matt

there were closer £100 to begin with IIRC :)

Yep thats what I was expecting to pay, I read they were £115! I Would of happily paid it too I think they look great,

Cheers Matt

Interested to see some pictures, but it is quite pricey. Does it just directly swap over the with the 8L gaitor and knob?

My original 8L gear knob is looking tired, I was thinking of fitting the Forge brushed aluminium version, which is also about £60. There are enough S3 badges in there anyway.

i have the original option gear knob from Audi, the silver one? trouble is the previous opwner obviously had rings on and has scuffed it...need to replace but will never go aftermarket....simply wont suit a car like this IMO

NICE TOUCH, BUT A BIT EXPENSIVE.

When I priced it Audi said 120,so its not expensive also why are you SHOUTING ?

I'll do this deffo as mine is scuffed...good find Matt

Matt, where did you order that gear knob from, which dealer ??

I've just phoned up mine to place an order and the bloke is telling me the code doesn't exist. He said it's usually 9-10 digits long so I said well miss of the first 'W' and the last 5 letters and still no joy. To be fair the bloke on the phone really does sound disinterested...

Cheers..

Not the best pic.

Oxford Audi, that is the Part number from the receipt?

I gave the parts bloke the original part number and he said it hat been superseeded by this part which exactly the same as the part in the picture? God knows then mate,

Cheers Matt

Ok cheers mate, looks like I'm going to have to go in and see this bloke at my dealers. I'll get it sorted one way or another...:)

Right then guys I've sort of made a bit of a how to

The original gear knob starting to look a bit tatty as the silver ring started to pick off

First of all you will need to pull the leather base up, Its just clipped in but a good pull should get it up

DSC_0149.jpg

You will need to lift the leather up to get to the securing clip, I used a small flat screwdriver to unclip it off, The new gearknob comes with one so no need to try and save it

The old gearknob will now pull off with a good tug

DSC_0151.jpg

Its then just a case of changing over the gaiters

Should all be pretty obvious from this point

Once you have it all back together it all it needs is a good firm push and it will locate

Much better!

wheres the best place then, stealers or ebay?

To be honest mate I was looking on eBay for a good while and nothing much turned up, I thought I'd save a fair bit on ebay but as there only 60 odd quid from Audi that's prob the best bet.

Cheers Matt
