Hi Folks,

I was wondering if ASN has a function where you can turn the view into a more discreet plain layout? for whilst your at work and have prying eyes on your screen?

We had something similiar on an old Vauxhall board i was once a member off...

Anyone?

Thanks
Dan

lol this would actually be very useful, he says posting from work, scrolling quick to hide the header ;)

Same here, out on a customer's site right now! Sorting a server out at the moment, and thinking how sensible an idea this is!!

Any chance of a poll on here? "Yes I'd use it" "No wouldn't use it/don't need it"

It wouldn't take much to do this either, as it's basically just a new style (there are plenty available for free for vBulletin), I guess the ads will need adding, but that's about it. Keep it simple, no "Audi Sport" in big writing or bright colours! please! :)

Alt + Tab :sly:

ha, alt tab is too late if someone has seen your screen with all the flashing sponsors, pictures etc. i work in an open plan office, and constantly have peopel walking past me, disturbing my valuable ASN reading time!

On a previous board I was once a member of, you had 'skins'. So when your at work you could put yourself in 'stealth mode' LOL :ninja: This enabled you to view pics, but only if you clicked to enlarge the pics, all the pictures were thumbnails and the design just looked really basic and boring, almost like a work related site! Plain and boring! haha

I'm glad there are so many others like me!! :)

Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.... Maybe.

I'm in my own office :beee:

I'm just testing an add-on called Ghostzilla. Seems to work quite well actually.
It turns the entire webpage white and all text is a light grey. It also removes all graphics from the page and they only appear if you move your mouse over them.
Also, to quickly hide the page you are on (this one) all you have to do is move your mouse out of the main window, to somewhere like the menu bar.
Once the coast is clear you just move your mouse to the left edge of the screen, to the right, and back to the left again.... and you're back at the page your were hiding.

Can be downloaded from http://www.sachsreport.com/GhostzillaCD-1.0.1-free-v1.zip

AALLLSSSOOOOO..................

It works with Microsoft Word!!!!!!!!!!
Open Word, move your mouse to the left of screen then right then left and you can browse from inside Word, with the normal white background and all the normal Word menus etc!!!

You are a genius. What an application....

Haha, what makes me laugh is that I do network administration and I spend most of my days stopping people installing such applications!!

And then I've gone and installed one myself.... benefits of being the Network Administrator.... *cough*

Hahahah!! Same here. We are a bunch of hypocrites!!

Just noticed that the application works with anything. Excel, Access, the lot.
EVEN works in Outlook. When I run it in Outlook the webpage only occupies my email list window. The folder window and auto preview window remain unchanged.

Oh well, it's OK. It's a good learning experience I guess, my argument would be 'How can I stop people installing things like this if I don't test them out myself to know how they work?...'

I noticed that too, its a well coded program actually to be fair. gets the thumps up from me...:icon_thumright:

Ahhhh well.... C'est la vie.

If I could get paid the same for working 3 hours a day then I'd happily do lots of work whilst at work. But since I don't, and that's not going to change, f*ck em.

:)

Ah. I need to get admin rights and try this. Will try tomorrow methinks. :shutup2:

Sounds like a nice little find you have there. I will give it a go when back at work tomorrow. I too have admin rights mwahahaha

We use Websense and block the discussion forums category :sorry:

But, since I manage the Websense server, that's no longer a problem for me! :p
