Parrot MKi9200 interface to Concert for Iphone 3GS

I'm trying to interface the Parrot MKi9200 into my Concert radio (A4 2002).
I tried a dension Gateway 100 unit but found a error message about charging
(Apple changed circuit to usb charging a while back only Dension never caught up).

Anyway I purchased a Parrot MKi9200 but now find out it only plays music through the front speakers. Does anyone have advice as to how to feed the amplifier for the rear from the
Parrot kit?

With your Audi having a BOSE amplified audio system, integrating the Mki9200 for music play is very complex as there are currently no lead solutions available for amplified vehicles. For handsfree communication the Audi has a dedicated telephone direct input at the rear of the radio and the sound then comes from the cars radio through the amplifier to the front two speakers. This sound is in mono and fine for handsfree communication. However, this solution is no good for streaming music to all of the speakers in the car.

The MKi9200 is designed to be connected directly to four car speakers and use its own inbuilt amplifier for the stereo music streaming side. There is an option to use the low level line outputs on the Mki9200 to omit the sound to a designated input on a radio, such as the CD changer input. The Aux in side could then be used for music streaming and the speaker output from the Mki9200 can be connected to the designated telephone input on the radio.

Lead solutions are currently being designed by a number of companies but are not available at present, hopefully these solutions will not be far away.

Just got my Parrot Mki9200 playing through rear speakers. Used connects2 interface into the CD changer input. Had to get some audio plugs from Maplin to feed line outs into the connects2. Sounds good.
The Parrot kit still has a way to go to iron out bugs but seems to work well.

We have been to Halfords(local stockist) today to have the connects2 interface fitted to my girlfriends clio, its sounds really good.

While i was there i showed them a copy of this thread, well lets just say they cant think outside of the box!!!

I have a 2007 A4 Avant with concert/bose units fitted along with the Parrot MKi9200 and have the comon problems above.

I will find a specialist ice shop to fit the connects2 as you have detailed.

I have a few questions though....

1, Is the parrot still connected to the phone mute on the concert unit & does the phone still only use the front speakers, i wouldn't want it to the rear speakers?

2, Are you plugging the iphone 3gs into the plugs of the parrot, connects2 or are you using its bluetooth streaming facility?

3, Is the music coming out of all the speakers or just four(4)?

4, How does it sound?

Was it a brand new Dension or an old one? They definitely have caught up, infact everyone else is very much behind the times! The Dension Gateway 100 and 300 CAN integrates with the DIS giving you full menu control of the iPod via the head unit and DIS, and multi function wheel if you have one. I can also confirm that they charge all iPods and iPhones up to and including the iPhone 3GS, as when I fit them I always test them with my own iPhone 3GS.

I called them and that was what I was told I needed. I also sent the details to halfords and a guy thare said that the code for the kit was the same as what thier supplier recommended although theirs was about £75ish.
Mine is a Symphony II with full Bose by the way in a 2004 car.

I emailed my local ICE specialist asking if they could fit the leads, got this reply.........

"There is also another way to do this, but it requires using the CD changer port on the rear of the stereo, so if you have a changer fitted then you will lose this. Basically, it is an adaptor that gives you an aux-input into the stereo and from this the Parrot MKi can be used for when music is playing (although it will still work as it does now for call's). The advantage of this is that it will then use the Audi BOSE amp rather than the weaker Parrots amp (which I believe also stops the subs running when in use) and allow you to turn the volume up/down using the stereo rather than the Parrots controller - although you will still need this to change tracks up/down etc."

This is what MJCAUDI has done who started this post, i did not realise the Parrot had its own amp which will be inferior to the Bose one so im going down connects2 type of route.

I've been reading this with interest - as I've wanted the MKi9200 for a while, but haven't seen a way to do get the speakers going.

The below is really useful, but I wanted to know more about how the Nexxia product worked.

So I've been talking with the Parrot people and the very helpful folk at Nexxia.

What I wanted was a solution for the MKi9200 on a Bose amplified system that:

-Uses the Parrot and front speakers for calls
-Uses the Bose amp/all speakers for music
-Let's the Parrot work as close to "as designed" as possible

The response from Nexxia is that their kit sits between the Parrot and the head unit/bose amp and converts the Parrot Amp's output to low-level. It then feeds the low-level signal to the Bose amp, using the existing loom (they have a version for half amplified systems and full amplified systems).

The Bose amp then amplifies this signal as it would a signal from the head unit (i.e. also drives the sub). I guess the Nexxia box also turns the amp on when it sees a signal from the Parrot box (TBC by Nexxia, but can't see how else it would work).

Now, this probably isn't the way to do it for the audiophiles out there; as it is basically taking the Parrot's amplified output, dropping it and then the bose amplifies it again. So IF the Parrot Amp isn't up to much (which I have no evidence for or against), you are still using it as the original source. However, I don't use lossless MP3s and so am not after the purest sound here.

I'm going to go for this option and will report back (after Christmas - as it'll be a present).

One question I hope someone can answer (to save me popping out the head unit): I've got a Symphony II double din, with Bose (in a 55 A3). As far as I can tell, that's half amplified and uses ISO, rather than quad-lock connectors - is that right?

Hello everyone,

I have been reading this thread for the last few days as I am looking for someway to interface a parrot mki9200 into my audi a3.

My system is half amplified - I have actually already installed the parrot kit and am using an "amplified mute" adaptor which I sourced through a supplier at work.

Dines - this may be of interest to you as it allows me to listen to the ipod through the rear speakers too, much like the nexxia kit you describe...

However, I am looking to obtain one of the connects2 interfaces that uses the CD changer port - the main reason being I don't think the ipod sound is anywhere near upto scratch through the parrot amplifier.

The second reason being is I find the amplifier literally "amplifies" the slightest of noises so I can hear a "popping noise" when switching between the parrot and radio or scrolling through the parrot menu...

In summary, I am not convinced the amplified mute adaptors provide optimal quality and why I am thinking of using the CD changer adptor.

Does anyone know what the part number is of the exact connects2 adaptor which I wil need?

using an "amplified mute" adaptor which I sourced through a supplier at work.

Does your adaptor do anything to the signal? i.e. is it just cables to "line up" pins or is there a box if tricks to convert the signal?

where is the best place to get 'connects2' and then is it fairly straight forward to connect in place ? I have an 2006 A4 convertable with a concert head unit but no bosse system. I think it has amplified rears but am not sure !is there any diagrams available ??

My understanding is that the headunit on a fully amplified bose setup sends out 4 low level singals FL FR RL RR then the amplifier splits up the signals to the individual speakers? Or is the headunit sending out more than just FL FR RL RR? If it is then i dont see how the nexxia kit will work propperly? Any one any ideas?
