hey just bought my s reg audi a3 turbo and i like the look of the s3 whats the differances looking wise?? i know the front and rear bumpers what else?? and do the s3 bumpers fit the a3??? cheers

Is it fwd or quattro, is it the ko3 or ko3s?

...not to mention the wider bodyshell (rear arches) & wider front wings.
S3 is also longer wheelbase than a FWD A3...but you'd be pushed to notice it.

The S3 bumpers won't go straight on your A3 due to the flaired arches on the S3...

how should he know it lol I wouldnt go changing ya a3 into looking like an s3, just wait for the insurance to go down, saw only my second s3 for sale down the bottom of road for £5k, was soo tempted to swap mine for it !

I'm new to audi so I didnt have a clue hence the post on here asking.
oh okay thats fair enough, what sort of bumpers do people put on then? reason i ask is i like the rear on the s3 so that it has a cut out for an aftermarket exhaust system

Just trim your standard bumper mate, I did and it looks fine :)

Sorry to P*** on your cornflakes Leggy. :whistle2:

S3 bumper does fit straight on. I did it 3 weeks ago.

It is 1 inch wider i think however the only modification i did was redrilled the wheel linings I tiny bit further and attached then.

before i did that it was noticable, now it isnt :).

I might of been lucky, but mine went straight on.

most of what has been said is true, that said your comparing apples and pears...... the two cars don't share many parts at all.... the S3 has wider body, independent rear susp instead of torsion beam, quattro, arches, recaro front electric seats, dash trim, steering wheel, the doors have a different lower trim, both bumpers, spoiler, exhaust, engine, turbo....its easier to say what they share, bonnet, rear seats, majority of dash and thats about your lot

Paul if you think by just changing the front and rears you will make your A3 look like an S3 your deluded..... every A3 ive seen with S3 bumpers looks like exactly that...... the cars couldnt be any further apart, infact im struggling to think of a car that shares the same 'model space' that is so different - no wait, an Evo to a Lancer

You can change ya bumpers all you like, without your track being widened and arches rolled front and back then all you have is a narrow S3 lookalike - as said you may aswell start with the S3 with what you'll spend, thats even starting from a rarely high spec'd A3 - you can spend hundreds/thousands but you will not fool people that know their cars

ive not even covered the fact that the doors have different lower halves.....or the fact that the headlights are totally different being xenons and of a different design....all of this can be changed but to what cost and hassle for what will never be a complete replica

im not saying exatly like a s3, and thats not my plan either but im saying most parts apart from interior (Seats) is relativly cheap) and apart from flared arches, some people just want to improve certain things as they look abit better and newer

for instance i for one hate the bumpers i have, especialy the grey on them, so thats my reason for going with s3 bumpers, i like the s3 wheels but dont want a replica so went for the rs4's i like, i dont like my interior, love the s3 interior but dont want a replica, so will go down the mk4 golf turbo recaro route, the red and black most likely, then lastley, im stuck on a grill, want peoples opinions, i dont know what grill to go for, i dont want s3 badges on my car but want a grill with black audi badge

fair comment, i think the only reason an S3 should be avoided is if the insurance is a particular killer for you.... especially what you can pick one up for nowadays ;)

I stand corrected, your obviously happy with how you've fitted yours, it wasn't a case of they won't go on, more a case of they wouldn't sit flush with the arches...

Just do what ever you want to your A3, it's YOUR car at the end of the day, but please don't stick an S3 badge on the bootlid! Or you will lose to a Sh!tron Paxo, and they will post it all over their forums on how they just mullered an S3 lol. :racer:

yup agree with jojo...although you did ask the differences and we have supplied that in one way shape or form :)
