setting time & date on an S3?

Can anyone help with the above? Disconnected battery now it's on 01.01.1999

Tried holding the buttons in a number of combinations and still nothing!

pull (or push can't remember what one) the left hand dial until the clock flashes

Pull then twist left or right to adjust then pull again to go to next number

I would do but the car is 9 years old and i didn't get a manual with it, only a service book with lots of stamps
