Anybody retrofitted ISOFIX to their B6 ??

I've looked behind the rear seats and can see the 2 holes that it presumably connects into.

Does anybody have any piccies of the brackets and how they fit ???

I've not done it yet but will be doing it in the next month to 6 weeks, its just over £40 a side.

i was lucky they i heard they never done isofix till 07 cars but i got an 06 sportback with isofix in every seat bar driving seat of coarse i was chuffed. just used to grab the baba clik her in and out easy peesy ....

Cheers Paul. Do you know if Screw "2" is just a screw that bolts into the chassis or does it have a bold ont he other side.

Only reason I ask is that an old dear in mothercare said that unless they are "welded" to the chassis, then isofix isn't covered in an accident (or something like that)

My understanding is that screw screws into a captured bolt welded into the floorpan of the car.

Is that nut not visible under the seat in the holes you mentioned?

Well I didn't take the seats out, I just peered through the gap between the vertical and horizontal parts of the seat.

Paul, does it come with the isofix guides circles in red so that I dont scuff my leather seats ? Are they just square items with sharpish corners or can you get them more rounded ? ;-)

I think sometimes the holes have got a piece of 'tape' over them blanking them off. Just peel it off or put a hole through it. Some people have fitted the plastic guides and have said they tend to mark the leather so removed them. I think the seats are shaped to suit the guide when isofix is fitted as standard.

Scott - See the link. I think the guides are only square but if you read the link, you'll see that many people don't use them due to distorting the leather.

When I had my B6 S4 the brochure said it came with rear ISOFIX....but it didn't. Audi UK said ignore the bochure as it's the price list that is the actual important thing and that lists it as an option. My car even was listed on the Audi computer as having ISOFIX and yet they still wouldn't do it FOC or even as a partial good will.

I bought and installed one side and then I struggled to get an ISOFIX seat that worked well with the Recaro rears. In the end I removed the ISOFIX, sold it on and put in a conventional seat which fitted a lot better.

Please correct me if i'm wrong but don't Isofix seats have a bracing bar/attachment that uses the floor to stop the seat tipping forward in the event of an accident? If that is indeed the case, combined with the extra expense of fitting the neccessary brackets and the price of the seats themselves I can't see that it's worth going Isofix over normal seats. On the odd occasion that I have to put our child seat in the A4 I've managed to get it down to a fine art and it's steady as a rock!

I 'think' the floor support bar is only present on some isofix seats, I have seen plenty without it. Are you still using a rear facing seat though?

Maybe someone can confirm?

If the floor support is necessary I doubt I shall bother with isofix as it looks a right PITA!

We have a couple of Maxi Cosi Priorifix Isofix Seats which are also compatible with 3-point seat belt fix - it does utilise a floor post, we've been using these seats for our now 1 year old for arouind the last ~3 months. Fitting is a doddle and the seat has a traffic light indicator, red shows when seat not correctly fitted and green when all ok. This illuminator goes green when both the isofix clamps and the floor post is set correctly. With this seat ISOFIX is such a doddle and more imporatantly gives me 100% piece of mind for our 1 year old with very good all around protection.

The seat leg is used for both fixing methods.

We use ISOFIX in the wife's Mazda-3 TS2 (55-reg), Company 3-series BMW Tourer (58) and the beloved A4 (51-reg). In all cars no problem fitting the seats.

I've had experience around 8 years ago with a 3-point seat belt child seat and "yes" you can get to grips with it quite quickly, but IMO having used ISOFIX I would not use anything else if the car has this fixing ability.

They're getting towards a kind of bucket seat and it was the lateral supports that caused issues along with the deeper base.
