Law On Children In The Front Seat??

Evening all, my son who is nearly 7 keeps wanting to sit in the front on his booster seat, it isnt a problem with me as im allways driving miss daisy when he's in the car anyway but does anyone know the law regarding this?

It's been asked many times and never answered 100%. I travel with my 5 year old son up front strapped down in a booster seat if it's just me and him, and where there's an airbag up front, I switch it off. If mum is travelling with us, then they both sit in the back, never had a problem with police at all with my setup.

Its about how tall the child is really. If they can sit in the seat with the seatbelt positioned properly then thats all that matters.

Seriously jojo, I would be inclined to leave the airbag switched on.........if you've got a rear facing baby seat (obviously we're not talking about your son here in the front seat then it's imperative you turn it off.

If you have a collision with your 5 year old in the front (assuming the belt is positioned correctly) then the air bag would be a must.

If it's a rear facing baby seat, the air bag should be turned off because any collision which activates the bag would force the seat and baby face first into the back of the seat!!

100% agree, if the correct seat for the height of the child and the correct positioning of the belt is maintained, there is no breaking of the law or, more seriously, a better chance of survival for the child if a collision happens.
