its the exact same color black as mine, only thing is is ever so slightly less glossy. its hard to tell apart. the small bumps are from the taillight itself(previous owner somehow chipped it up) i made sure to get no bubbles and it took around 25mins for each light, and about 15mins to stencil and cut up. i got that one that i linked to 60cm by 1metre. so i still got loads left :)

im guna wait till dark to see how it looks with the lights on :)

lol, sorry off topic I know, but how can you put a S3 badge on a 1.6 or whatever it is!!!!!!!!!!!

lol hehe yea, well once im done with it it should look liek an s3, with the lower insurance of a 1.6 hehe. its my first car so no way i can get a real s3, i was plannin on debagin the whole thing at first but then the awsomeness of the s3 took over my plans for it.

If i start to feel too chavy, i can take them off easily

not feelin the masked lights m8 but each to there own and as for making ur 1.6 look like an S3, good lad. we don't all have unlimited supplies of money like some on here :)

I think making it to look like an S3 is good,no big insurance premium but you have the look.
fair play

thanks for the comments guys, i was thinking of getting facelift tail lights but thay dont look massivly diffrent and the price is too high for them. so i decided to do somethin unique :p and it only cost me £4.

i figured i cud get away with the s3 look, as only the enthusiasts will know any better.

I'm certainly not a fan of over badging cars...but leaving that to one side, my opinion on the lights is they look 100% chavtastic.

Less is often more. Don't feck up a nice car by adding lots of silly bits. You'll end up like all a lot of the other first car owners where they turn a totally respectable car into something that many others point and laugh at.

Your car so do it your own way but you did ask for opinions ;)

Were does it end tho when ur bored.. here maybe?

hehe :)

hey top marks for trying sumat different, i always envy people willing to try something new as im a 'tried and tested' fella myself.... sooo much easier that way....

now for the opinion..... if you must rebadge a 1.6 with an S3 badge, at least get it in the right place...thats always the best start... the vinyl, if you must have it then id leave the top bit on and rip the bottom part off.... other than that id spend my money replacing the back lights with facelifts and source a nice leathr interior off ebay...should be cheap enough to get a 1.8T trim from someone whos gone for S3 interior or a scrappy.....

it has to be chavy as it seems to have been done by a chav quit with all the txt speak!!!!!!!!!
as for the looks like an s3 the s3 part is a badge on the boot, if your not willing to spend out on facelift lights then your never going to transform your 1.6 a3 into an s3 replica as said above it dosent need to be an s3 to look good,

heh yep im well aware of the a3 looks good without being a s3, the plan was debadging the whole thing so i did the 1.6 part, then i did a3, but when it got to the audi rings i felt it had to stay, and then a few days later i added the s3, it just kinda happened.

and i do have the money to transorm it into an s3, and i already have a full leather interior :D its just that the tailights are not so diffrent like i said before. (from what i can tell) not sure if the price can justify the extra clearness/crystallness of them :) but saying that, i have already begun saving, just incase the facelift tailights tempt me, thanks for the comments guys :D

Sorry dude, not to my taste, also not keen on the badging either, just think, a little corsa is going to pull next to you, try racing you and if he takes you and doesnt know any better, the S3 is going to be getting a bad name pretty quickly!!

But as always, each to their own, its your car.....its your choice :)

Hmmmm, not my cup of tea by a long way. If it was mine I'd ditch the 'eyelids' on the back lights, bin the S3 badge along with the chrome boot trim and just have a tidy 1.6 and be done with it.

No matter how much cash you throw at it, its never going to be an S3 (body panels, drive train etc). Be happy with what you've got, I'd prefer it as a tidy 1.6 any day of the week rather than making it something its not (and never will be).

However thats just me though, if you like then thats all that matters rather than what a bunch of randoms on the internet think :)

to be honest i had the prefacelift rear lights and always prefered them then recently i changed the style of my car and so had to get the facelift rear lights to keep with a smoother style, any way since actually buying the rear lights i wish i had of got them ages ago as im in love with the back end of my car now it looks so fresh,
i brought mine off ebay there not genuine ones just some £70 units which i was very sceptical about buying but they fit great although i did have to spend some time aligning them and elongating the holes in the back end now there in there and fit perfect,

here's some pics to tempt you, will be a big improvment imo

hehe yes this was my way of thinking before, as ive only added those bits on recently. not sure why but i wanted to have a fiddle with my car while saving up for big enhancments like better alloys(yours are very nice), i still have half a mind to do what you said, and what ive brought so far can be easily removed and scraped as its just stupid bits from ebay.

Also does anybody know where i can find the cheapest facelift tailights for, so far the best price ive found is around £100.

EDIT:

Whoa NICE S3 kev your post just appeared now.

i cant find any on ebay now, only the crappy aftermarket ones. i will keep searching for them!

and for £70 ill definatly buy them its a big improvement. it would be great if you could explain further what you meant by getting it fitted proporly or possibly a link to a guide for the adjustments needs for tail lights.

these are the ones i brought

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Audi-A3-2000-2003-Pair-Rear-Lights-New-Lamps_W0QQitemZ250428199781QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item3a4eaf1365&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1689%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C240%3A1318%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50

what i ment was where the light bolts into the rear pannel i had to make the holes a bit bigger so i could manouver the light into fit nicely im a profectionist. also i changed the rubber seal on the back of the new lights with the rubber seal off the old lights

haha yeah it does look good without it too :yum:

..if you ever feel like having the no bodykit look. gime a call, ill take them off your hands  hehe.

EDIT: Ive just thought of an awsome idea!!!! i can put my old lights up on ebay, make sure to use all caps and lots of color, title will read "UNIQUE CUSTOM A3 TAIL LIGHTS 2003+/8P DESIGN" hahahahhahaah i can make a quick £200 of some silly chav!

I put facelift lights on the back of my car not long ago and I'm the same, really makes the back end look sooo much better.

Little things like that and things like clear side repeaters just tidy things up a bit.

T

already got some smoked side repeaters put in. they look ace.

ill let you guys know how the ebay selling of my old tail lights go, ill be well chuffed if i get over £50 for em just cos of the eyelids.

Fair enough you want it to look like an S3, but it doesn't. At least wait until you've got the body work to match first.

And, just for the record, I like the top bit, but the bottom notch thing doesn't match any lines on the rear and looks a little too obviously retrofit for my taste.

ok im not going to cut you down but here is the stuff u should have done befor the badge

rear bumper would be a must as its completly diffrent from yours.

then front bumper for same reason.

then change the boot to get the s3 spoiler

these are the cosmetic things you should be spending on not eyelids and badges if you want to make it look like a s3

coz putting a S3 badge on a car that dont look like a s3 makes you no better then the guys that buy the crome turbo sign saying turbo on a clio

just my view:s3addict:

im well aware of the parts that are diffrent, i dont think ill end up converting the whole car to s3, and i will in the future debadge it.

but just to prove what i said earlier about only enthusiasts knowing the diffrence, a car mechanic told me yesterday 'nice s3' i jus nodded and said thanks. i for one cant belive he fell for it, as the rims on the car look more like hub caps. but seriously the general population can only figure out what a car is by the back badge.

:blackrs4:

Are you sure he wasn't joking? I know what you mean though, just the other day I was washing my car and a random asked me if I wanted to sell my A3...

crome turbo sign saying turbo

Whats wrong with a chrome Turbo sign? I was thinking of buying a few and putting them all over the car :jester:

At the end of the day, you have a nice motor there mate..... I dont think the lights you have need the eyelids or what ever it is they are called. But that said, it's just down to personal choice huh. I once went out with a pure stunner, all my mates said she was a munter. To this day I say they were wrong :whistle2:

By the way, I reckon you should debadge it..... I like debadged cars. Something mysterious about them.... you never know what is unde the bonnet. There are some that say if it is debadged then there must be nowt under the bonnet.... but there is enough doubt in my book. Debadge that bad boy and happy motoring in a lovely black A3 mate!

a car mechanic told me yesterday 'nice s3' i jus nodded and said thanks. i for one cant belive he fell for it,

If thats the case why do it in the first place?
And are you sure its just that you're not aware of the concept of sarcasm?

yeah exactly the same only problem is that you will need to source some straight pin amber bulbs as most amber bulbs are offset, 343 is the bulb number

Hehehe That bumper is an STI bumper! :jester:
