I was 100% happy with my S2 Avant until I had a ride in a ~450bhp S4.... 4 weeks later I had one too!
Sadly I can't afford to get that sort of power, but do plan on lowering it, exhaust and a remap. For now it just has an AWE boost gauge in the centre vent.

The old S2:

Good choice of colour, same as mine.
what bhp was the S2? How much did you get for the S2?

I got the S4 last September, Ive just not had time to get on any forums much since!

The S2 sold for £4k, brief spec was:
H&R springs
Porsche 996 Brembos with 323mm A8 discs
S2forum.com chip
Milltek rear silencer with straight through centre section with no cats
18" early S8 alloys
1.8t coilpacks with 034 loom
279bhp, but needed a new thermostat at the time, so power was down a little

looks like it's had paint on the nsf wing...
... or is that a trick of the light?

nice looking motor - i wish i could afford an s4, sigh...

I think its had a different bonnet as the shade is very slightly different in some light

Welcome. Tidy looking S2 you had there. Enjoy the S4

My S4 has the rear badge in the same place. Is this standard? I have seen many, many with different badges in different places! Mine is much the same colour, but the wheel centres are now looking well dodgy! Anu have any ideas how I can sort them out? Will have to post pictures...

Oh, welcome to the club. If you need any info, shout, or if your in south wales, call in!

New wheel centres for Avus crop up on ebay fairly regular IIRC

take them apart and paint them. dead easy to do!

in terms of badges - pre facelift have them higher up near the top lip of the boot generally, facelift lower down to the left of the number plate

the s2 looks great. good looking s4 dest. what are your plans?

You say that now.........

My bank balance dictates that!
If I had the choice it would have K04's and alot more

Dest - that S2 is very nice... I do like, looks very clean.. anyway welcome to the S4 group, mines standard but I got a stage 1 ecu for about 10 mins and what a different car, I am so tempted but its insurance of me. I do agree with stapo69, these cars seem to be able to take so many upgrades, so once you start...

good luck....

I am so tempted but its insurance of me.

Working for an insurance company (Confused.com, the choice is clear!), if you're the kind of person who midifies your car, then "the model" suggests that you're also the kind to wrap it around a tree or another vehicle.

That's why any modification, regardless of what it is, tends to push up your premium by a disproportionate amount, unless you go through a specialist.

IIRC, "the model" also shows things like if your in a "no fault" accident, you're far more likely to be in a "fault" accident in the future, even if you have never made a claim previously. Lots of interesting things thrown up by the stats...

P.S. Sorry for the shameless plug, but check out our new website!!!

Not meaning to hi jack the post but why the hell to people in the media or performing arts i.e. a musician who's on a tight enough budget as it is get raked for insurance. As soon as I say I'm a pro musician the insurance goes up by 65% (OR MORE) as opposed to a 45k a year 30 something exec who's more likely to wrap their range rover sport around a horse after a few to many pims! Goddamnit!

heh, sometimes you need to be wise to them and fiddle a bit.

For instance, insuring your car as a "shop assistant" will cost more than insuring it as a "customer service representative", clearly they see a customer service advisor as someone sitting in a sky call centre rather than working at homebase, which is somehow a better class of job and makes you somehow less likely to crash, but the job title is effectively the same.

I guess they might think that the media could be racing around in their cars chasing a story, not really sure what they've got against a musician though.

^^^^ It's all to do with "the model".

Statistical analysis of claims against profression shows that people in certain jobs, such as those in the media spotlight, cause far more claims (and cost) than those in other professions. Footballers being the classic case. Their "reckless" attitude means they drive faster and are involved in more accidents, with the cost of each being huge due to the vehicle involved!

People in the insurance industry tend to have less claims than any other industry. The policy cost reflects the risk associated, statistically, with your profession.

I know more people (police officers, accountants, solicitors..etc) who have bent there car than colleagues of mine i.e. musicians.. We need our transport, nae chance of a bus from Glasgow to the borders at two in the morning, without a car It'd be near impossible for me to get to gigs, rehearsals, recording etc.. 'Proffesional's mentioned above seem to have an easy come easy go attidude with there wheels. Just a something that stops them having to get wet waiting for a bus...
Sorry rant done..
I should probably start a thread regarding this elsewhere. Sorry Dest!!!!

Ah.. I teach a few hours privately. So I'm a teacher as far as the insurance is concerned... ;O)

Then happy days!

While I am sure that your group of musician friends are all safe drivers, and the accounts/police are not, the statistical database covers many millions of drivers.

If you have a criminal record, for example, your far more likely to make a claim, regardless of what the record is for.

Analysis of data like this throws us some very interesting results. Whilke totally off topic, check out how Google can predict Flu outbreaks based on statisticalk analysis of search terms!

http://www.google.org/about/flutrends/how.html

Insurers process data in much the same way, looking for trends over the population. That is what drives the Risk and associated policy cost. Interesting stuff!

£4k!? wow...thought it would have gone for a lot more than that.
prefer them with the original porsche wheels though.
