New S3 discount

Interesting thread.

Ive been looking at something to drive until the new S4 is released, therefore Ive been looking at S3 prices.

Brand new 10% is easy to achieve and if you are looking at the old shape 15% is easy as there is extra support from Audi on them.

Al´s car is overpriced IMHO. Yes it has buckets, but that limits the market a little, it has high miles and is missing items someone like myself like - GSM for example.

You can get an 08 car for 21-22k from an Audi dealer with much lower milage. In fact you can see a nicely loaded car for 24k. Not that difficult to knock the dealer down on these cars for a quick sale - 22.5k for example. I know I would rather the 08 car with Sat Nav, GSM etc.

Not knocking Al´s car, but I would say that 20k is more of where its at and that is set to fall quickly.

TBH Johnathan does have some good points, as much as you want 21-22, markets dont seem to warrant this, but someone will want the car anyway so its just a case of how long you're prepared to wait which is my whole point overall considering its for a new business or wants to cut the living costs as previously mentioned

But TBH they are all over priced form the get, no S3 is worth 30k new, its a joke what they are charging us these days really is, but as with everything if you want it then you have to pay it huh.

If hasnt got sunroof I wont buy it, thats my big one.

the chap works for VW Group or has a family tie, this would give you around that level of discount

Ha! I wish...

I bet if they offered anywhere near 15% (which would be a loss) it would've been a stock car that had been sitting in there compound for 6 months. Was flat black, had a Concert radio and no other options etc...

New car sales may be down, but Audi Car sales were up around 16% verses last September. So things aren't that bad. The only Audi Centres who are probably struggling are the ones who don't know how to run a business.

I think the issue here is that 15% is possible on the old shape S3 and Audi UK is giving extra discount/support on these run out cars. There are very few new shape 3 doors in country, but a number of old shape and dealers are keen to clear the decks

Well all I can say there are great deals out there on motors Golf R32 selling at 25% off brand new stocked cars been offered a fully loaded one with buckets & Dvd with DSG for £22k has £7k worth of extras it really is a buyers market at the moment making it a hard to decide between a S3 with 11% off or the R32 I know the S3 is better but that price of the Golf is so tempting & have money in my pocket !

it really is a buyers market at the moment

You can say that again.

I saw a used MkV R32 going for 17K the other day. Only last summer the MkIV was still fetching 17K5! I know as I was trying to convince my mate to get one (He got a Vectra VXR instead and lost 5K in 3 months).

How often is it the case where sports cars are cheap at the same time as fuel?! 89.9p I saw today!

Golf R32s have been becoming more and more bargainous over the last few weeks - 29% off list on one (unreg) mentioned by someone on mkivs

If I was in the market to buy a car then I would be sorely tempted to get one.

Nice sig Staz lol

Wait a few more days you may find you will save even more money if the reduced VAT from 17.5 to 15 as rumoured this weekend happens (-:

l got £1200 of a new S3. That was cash and without a trade in.

I noticed in the dealers theyre slapping "Dealer contribution" signs in the window. These were ranging from £1000 to £4000 depending on model.

I also noticed there wasnt one in the TT-S.

I am getting 11% off but waiting few days before I order may get another £600 off if VAT drops (-:

Ordered RRP 29700 got for 25900 including the Vat at 15% dont think could of got any better than that just got to wait till 1st March for delivery

The car market is absolutely shafted right now. I wouldn't be surprised if dealers are being allowed to lose money on the cars just to shift them.

Rather get rid of stock at a loss than have it sitting around losing money.... That's the fact of it.

I currently have a 07 Type-R that I rather cleverly picked up on lease. Handing it back in a few months, balloon payment is like £2-3k above the cars current market price... so I'll be handing it back and walking away thank you very much.

Very interested in a new S3, I'll be looking at £24k at a minimum before I even consider it personally, will be nice to get the dealers to squirm.

while I agree its a buyers market, Audi new cars sales are actually showing a slight increase and about 80% of their cars are specifed for a known buyer rather than being speculative euro -boxes made en mass.

the stealer i ordered mine from has pretty much already emptied the yard of used stock already.

24k is ambitious for a new s3.

Was thinking the same.
Thats 12% ish off basic RRP, is it not?

And, if your in the market for an S3 you will want some extras and most are speccing new S3s to around 30K RRP.

So to get your mits on a new S3 with a reasonable spec for 24K, you would have to achieve around 20% discount!

If that ever becomes common place I will be ordering a facelift myself.

cheers

Can't think of a single extra worth paying for. Don't want/need sat nav and whilst the bucket seats look supreme that's £1600 I won't ever see back.

As we all know, we never recover the full value of any extras at resale, however a well specced car will command a premium, and it will make its much easier to sell/trade at a later date.

Few people spec NAV these days anyway as its available as a retro-fit for £500 or so, instead of AUDIs RRP of around £2000.

The seats are pricey but an absolute must for some.
Not for me as it happens so I wasnt prepared to pay a premium for them. They are fantastic but the std seats are also very good IMO.

I agree the S3 does come very well equipped in standard trim but for me there were some absolute `must haves`, and as I was buying used, it took a while to find the right car/colour/spec/age combo.

You wont be dissapointed with a std S3 by any means but its a lot of money to spend and then look back after 6 months of ownership and wish you had ordered, the FBMF Steering wheel, Bluettooth, Bose, Armrest, Light pack...etc.....which you can have for only 5-10% on the cars purchase price.
NAV and Buckets are only 2 of a multitude of available extras that improve the whole ownership experience.

Good luck

Paul

I tried hard but couldn't get an offer of more than a 10% discount on a new S3 Sportback as a factory-order car.

I got 11% off a new shape S3 & had to push hard for it.....you have to remember you are buying cars that aren't even built so never going to get as much as a stocked car that they will want to shift basically RRP was £29700 with the VAT 2.5 cheaper & discount car came to £25941 thought was pretty good for Audi back in the good days you wouldn't of hardly got anything off a S3 all relative though as the 2nd hand market for S3's have also dropped on the back of it but I keep my cars for at least 5 years so doesnt really bother me on that front.

You will get a standard S3 new for £24K but not with any options & would have to have solid colour but you would get one

11%! Result.
Right time, right place and capitalising on the the current climate and VAT rules, well done.:icon_thumright:

I paid 25K for a 4 month old car in March (non facelift obviously), which I calculated as being 30-31K when new, taking into consideration the extras it had.

Applying your discounts I could have had the car, brand new, for 27K.

Which, when all said and done, was is academic really as 23K was the budget at the time , and 25K was more than I wanted to spend anyway so 27K was never happening.

Enjoy, and make sure you have some REVO tokens put aside.....:)

Cheers

The dealer that I use will give 12-14% on an new S3..
Happy to pass this on to anyone who is looking at the moment
