Hi I had my CC recharged by a local tyre fitting centre - yes stupid I know! however now when the econ is on (ie CC off) at 18 degrees or more, warm air comes out, even when its less than this outside!

Before I had it done I could leave off the climate and still have it fairly cool on cooler days.

I now only get cold air when on LO.

They recon its how climate control works. It was working fine before it went in though!

Any ideas? Does anyone else get this??

They added about 1kg of gas and defumed/anti bacteria'd it too.

No definately not, but mine doesn't work properly either. I think it's a design fault on the B6 CC system. My B5 CC works perfectly, set it to 20 degrees and never have to touch it, but the B6 needs constant fiddling as sometimes 18 degrees will give you cool air, other times warm even though its hot outside.
CC is not supposed to be switched off for anything other than short periods, like when you're nearly running out of fuel. It is meant to be on most of the time otherwise you'll get smelly issues and possible cracking of the rubber seals leading to leaks.

I keep mine on 18 virtually all year, except when its really hot and I knock it down to LO, but then I have to turn Auto off to stop the fan blowing wildly. Its pretty frustrating but I have just learned to live with it. My last car would stay on 21 all year, maybe 20 if it was a scorching day and I never had to adjust it and it was always comfortable. And that was a pick up truck!!

Theres loads of threads on this, and I have given thought to changing the unit to a later one that drops to 16, I just don't understand why Audi's 18 is warmer than everyone elses!

Bonerp - I had mine regassed last week and it is no more inconsistent than it ws before! But I never use econ ......

My old E36 BMW 328 Sport Coupe (much missed by the way) manufactured in 1999 Aircon/Climate Control was brilliant compared to the sh*t system in my B6 Audi......it never missed a beat and kept the cabin at a constant 21 degrees C no problems at all in the 4 years I owned it......The Beemer Air Con did not smell, and I never got it recharged.

I find the Audi "Climate Control" ? Auto Air con noisy (solved by switching the air flow to centre vents & footwell vents only), inconsistent in maintaining temperature, and lastly it stinks of 5 day old damp washing....its been recharged by an Audi main dealer and "deodorised".....so overall I consider the B6 Air Con system completely crap !..........hopefully Audi have improved it in the B7.....

just an update - checked by the cruise control fitter Gareth from Hazzy Dayz today (cheers for cruise - its cool - unlike my CC!). A host of codes are showing faults on the motors and alsorts. I reckon the A/C tw4ts shoved a probe so far down the centre vent that it seized the flaps.
Luckily I've got a warranty that should cover it but unfortunately its suddenly started working again! I'll monitor it and send it in for replacement if a when it goes again.
Also anyone else hear constant noises from the heater / CC unit in the dash???

Yeah B6 Audi Air con is **** compared to my other cars Ive had.
I have to fiddle with mine like Andymac said, I currently drive it on 18 - 21 but sometimes is a little too warm. I blast it on LO when the sun is out but seems the varient between 18 and LO is too much temp wise.
Crap!

Only LO manages to keep me cool in summer, the jump between LO and 18c is too much.

On my B7, it goes down to 16c, it was 18c on my B6. Is this something that could be programmed in or is it a different unit?? Could help.?

Sounds like you need to have the actuator positions reset. When I had issues on my A4 last year I ended up replacing a perfectly good actuator motor because vagcom showed it up as faulty. When it went for a service the vag specialist I used just said they'd reset the system and it all started working again with no more fault codes!

18c works fine when the car has been parked in the sun. It seems to work fine then and maintain it. If My car has been in the underground and I come out on a summer day it still blows warm air at 18c.. it can be a pain but 90% of the time I have no problems with it.
