I see more B9 A5/S5/RS5's on the road than the B9 A4/S4/RS4's and it therefore puzzles me how this part of the forum is much much quieter than the B9 A4 forum?

also, why doesn't the A5/S5/RS5 forum get split by model(b8/b9)like the A4 forum? maybe that's why it's so quiet here, with search engines not sending potential users here.

It always has been mate, I joined these forums late 2014 just after I'd ordered my S3, that forum was buzzing at the time, there were literally pages of new posts each day and loads of information going around and some good banter :) When I got the A5 coupe in October 2017 I found this part of the forums were dead! So I just kept posting stuff on the S3 or detailing section, but these days everywhere on here seems to be quiet! Maybe it's because people aren't changing their cars as often so get a bit bored with them, this A5 is 5 year 3 months old now, it's the longest time I've ever owned a car in 34 years!

The only other thing I can think of (dare I say it) we started to get a few people that would just brag about their wealth, comments such as £40k is nothing for a car these days, I've got 2 and one I just use for weekends! So that created a few heated discussions. It seemed to go away from the friendly group of people helping each other out with problems and having banter, to a mine is bigger and better than yours forum!

I'd love to see the daily posts stats from 2016 compared to now!

Suspect it’s a combination of numbers, typical age of driver and age of car.

Ive had my S5 for 2 years and have only ever seen a couple of others on the road. In fact I see More RS5s than S5s. Just had a quick look and only about 600 have been registered since thier launch in 2020.

There are literally thousands of A3s , S3s and Rs3 s on the road so much bigger pool of owners to start with. Absolutely no evidence to support but I’d bet a whole £1 their average age is younger than your typical A5 driver and they are more into posting on the internet. Interestingly I dip into a a5 Facebook group occasionally and there is very little if any content for B9 cars On there either.

I posted a couple of times about adding black badges and memory function to the seats but apart from that there is nothing else e I want to do to the car (apart from keeping it polished :icon thumright: and there are only so many pics you can post for that.

It did but i have the facelift B9.5 that was launched in 2020. Biggest change was the change to the 3.0tdi mhev engine which is rather good.

no of registrations - how many left website. provides info down to model level

Yeah, I hardly see the facelift out and about. maybe have seen it once.

It being so dead probably stops new people from posting as they think it’ll get no interaction and then the cycle continues.

Here’s my contribution to the page, a van bumped into me last week, who can guess the repair estimate?

That looks like a new bumper, parking sensor and possibly the diffuser too. wild guess - say a £1000 for parts and another £500 for labour plus vat?

Think being a diesel put a load of existing owners off but personally I love it. Quality of the interior is first class, it’s lovely to drive, deceptively quick and does 45mpg on a long motorway run and 30+ around town - probably the bast car I’ve had

I can put subsections in if that will help encourage others to use this section. Let me know what you all think.

@quattrorally i wasn’t notified with your post. You need to use the @ then my name

I think subsections would be good just so it matches other parts of the forum.

Supposed to be better than Leather for getting dirty and cleaning clean, but offers more grip and wears out more quickly. had one in a TTRS and based on that i like Leather more but that’s purely preference.

If you do a quick search there are loads of articles on the different pros and cons but at the end of the day it’s your car so go for what you like best.

Im waiting for the full tpms system to be installed and am also toying with the idea of paint ting to inserts of the sports seats to match the body.

I'm guessing rear bumper, sensors, spraying, labour and vat £2,000

I don’t think it needs a split, just renaming

Rather than First/Second Gen, have B8/B9 as there is with the A4 section.

£6,009.02 (as it stands, could go up). Just glad I’m not the one paying

Rear bumper, diffuser, exhaust, and 19 other bits along side them.
They’re re-spraying from pretty much the drivers door back including the c-pillar on both sides.
And that doesn’t include the £355 a week courtesy car

I have an alcantara wheel in my old B5 - a car that gets driven a couple of times a month. It looks and feels great - I don’t know how but it totally transforms the driving experience! But i would never have one in a daily driver. I’d stick with leather. I’ve seen a few well worn alcantara wheels and, in my opinion, they look awful. It’s not the worst to clean, but nowhere near as easy as wiping clean some leather!

If you do go down that route though, Royal did mine and I’d recommend.

I had a Golf R for 7 years and the forum there was buzzing , this is so inactive i hardly look tbh, been here since October !

No point in a separate forum for the B9.5 IMO as so much is shared with the B9. It would only dilute the activity even more.
