A7 enable white ambient door light

Hi all
Just wondering since my a7 has these red warning door strips already enabled working just fine when opening door or when on reverse or changing lane and a car is coming, can these also be enabled as white ambient door lights somehow? Either through vcds or through my audi app?

Hi and thanks for your response, also want to enable the footwell lights since they are already there installed by factory but no menu option or turn on any time!!!

the red LED strip can be changed to any colour through the MMI, Think it is CAR->LIGHTS&VISION->BACKGROUND LIGHTING, then if you choose INDIVIDUAL, you can then set the colour of surfaces and contours. From within, you can also turn FOOTWELL on and off.

Thanks for your time, but in there I got only 2 options, exterior lighting and rain sensor
Maybe it needs coding with vcds for the menu to show up just like my A3 8v?

Ah, I see you have the C8 version of the 7, I’m afraid I can’t help you as I’m a C7/7.5

i do know that Ambient Lighting was an option, and not standard across the range, so it’s possible it may not actually be installed In your car.
A dealer may be able to decode your VIN and find out in Ambient Lighting was optioned (or check your My Audi app)

You may get a better response if you post the issue in the C8 forum

I still got no response from the c8 forum...have you used vcds successfully? I have the latest version hex v2 but I get an "unsupported vehicle" message...

Yes, I have VCDS.

The HEX V2 cable is locked to your vehicle VIN number. (Its locked to 3 cars, or 10 cars, depending on which version you have purchased)

Did you purchase the cable new from Ross-Tech (or authorised reseller), or did you buy it used?

If purchased new, then when you first use it connected to the car) it should automatically register itself to your car's VIN number. It also automatically registers any other car VIN that its connected to.

If purchased used, you can buy additional licence(s) to allow it to be used on more cars.

[Edit] - Actually thinking about it, you may want to check that it works with the C8, as Audi changed from CAN Bus to LIN bus technology, and I'm not sure if that could be the issue. There is a VCDS Forum that may have the answer - Click here
