Hi all,

Today I was snooping around the car and noticed a funny colour on the alternator copper coils, they appear burnt to me, potentially caused by overheating?

Does somebody have any insight on this please? I have had the car just over 10 months and is going in two days to have the starter-alternator replaced as per the recall, but still a scary sight considering this part has been recalled due to fire risk or maybe I am just being paranoid.

Did you ever get to the bottom of this? Was it resolved by having the alternator recall carried out?

Make sure you have covered the recall with Audi. Both TFSI and TDI 40 variants had callback for this.

Thanks, I believe my car has already had this recall carried out.

I was just wondering if the OP found the issue with the burnt looking coils was resolved by having the recall carried out.
