Real World Mpg of A3 8Y

I managed 59 mpg on a 150 mile motorway trip M4/M25, so a few start stops in traffic. Pretty happy with that! 35 TFSI Stronic

:sign wow:That's impressive. What motorway speeds were you doing to get that?
The cruise control was mainly set to 60, but a couple of spurts to overtake and some lower speeds on the smart motorways.

Aircon set on eco. I did notice that whilst on cruise control and going downhill, the engine wouldn’t turn off. I’d knock the cruise off going downhill to enable the coasting :thumbs up:

And that's with a brand new engine of circa 500miles only and E10 petrol?

Yeah the engine would've been on 350 ish miles at the start of the journey. As for the petrol, nothing but ASDA's finest :grimacing:!

Over the weekend, drove from M1 J13 to Shepherds Bush London via M25, M40/A40 - lots of traffic with 40-60 variable speed limit but no start/stop.
62.5MPG when we reached there.
Came back late night so fewer traffics and drove lot faster - only 45MPG. Comfort mode both ways.

Fuel was Tesco 99RON E5. The car has done about 13k miles so far, 35TFSI Stronic.

Weather is a bit warmer now (not by much), so mpg figures are improving. On E10 Texaco fuel, city drive from East London Westfield to West London Westfield city streets 20-30mph, got these figures. Granted, it was 9am on a Sunday, but still! Lots of MHEV long stints with engine off rolling up to a traffic light. Haven't used the car much since petrol prices increased, already done 367miles with '140' miles remain, so en route to a therethical 500 plus miles a tank. When it was filled it showed 520 miles range left.

!

Just under 20 degrees, finished the E5 RON 99 momentum, filled up with E10 Esso 95 @ £1.79 . 560 miles left at fill stn (didn't even fill to click) At least I managed 70+mpg with E10! Needed to as petrol is so expensive!

I used it for trips lately so it gave me 950 km of range. Didn't use the full tank but I already did 750 km before refuelling, so I m guessing it would be accurate

the most I have see is in the 73mpg took this once finally stopped, this was after around 80 miles.
mpg is always better on the A roads
When I’m not trying and going up and down the A1 it’s usually around 67 mpg
My long term average is 61 mpg that’s almost from brand new I accidentally reset it after the 2nd or 3rd filll but never touched it since so that’s around 9000miles now
Car is a 35TDI
I’m happy with the mpg it did seem pretty poor originally but has definitely improved since getting car in April

I still don't get why your short term memory shows 11.0 l / 100km. That is too much.

I have similar issue with my car.
Every new day i get my car from the parking, the short term-memory shows 40.90 l / 100 km, which is insane.
If i reset it, my consumption is ~ 9.0 - 12.0 l / 100km in city traffic which.
It feels kind of weird, because when i stop in traffic lights and the engine doesn't go off, i see a steep incline in consumption like ~ 0.1 l / second.

Is this normal ?

40 TFSIe after a 328 mile drive mainly up the M6. Fully charged for departure. Full hybrid mode with satnav helping managing battery use.

I think it's normal. When you start in the city it doesn't have the time to drop. All my cars started from 40+ lt/100km and then dropped, so it's not representative of your consumption.
When I start driving out of the city it drops to 6,8-7 within 2 km.
Long term memory is 6,1 lt/100 km

Has anyone done their same journey to work in an S3 in efficiency vs say auto or dynamic? Is it noticeable mpg difference?

Last 18-19 months worth of mpg. Biased towards city 20-30 mph roads by the low average mph. This includes 700+ miles of 'touring' speeds for holiday to and from London - Cornwall just last week. However even before that it was still 47/48s mpg. Wonder what my revs were doing at 1.5k at 0mph in Park with park brake on..hmm

I’m getting 28.5 long term in my S3. Not that much worse than my mk7.5 GTI was.
A bit over 30 on mine, including a long "I'm late" drive back on the French autoroutes at 130kph (about 82 and a bit MPH) all the way last week.

Closer to 37 on a regular mainly motorway trip in the UK that involves a good bit of 50mph average speed check section of the M42.

Less than 500 miles on my S3, averaging 27.6. mix of roads. Mostly backroads with a bit of motorway
