Hi I've been asked a question by a friend regarding the location of the subwoofer with the Comfort and Sound Pack

In my 8V FL it's located inside the space saver

His 8Y has a space saver but no subwoofer, however the speakers say Bang and Olfuson and he has a subwoofer control in the MMI and all the comfort pack features are there

Would someone please check to see if it's in the boot or have they placed somewhere else now - As no storage compartment under the drivers seat anymore I wonder if it's under there or all part of the control unit under the passenger seat

Thanks

Ok I've found out the answer - Fortunately my friend is a Mastertech and whilst he hasn't had dealings with this issue on a new A3, came round and it's on the left side of the boot behind the panel

Would you be able to send a photo of exact sub location? I plan to retrofit my basic sound system by adding original sub (i.e. Audi Sound System) and would like to understand where is exact location of the subwoofer. Thanks!!!

Any idea if it actually says B&O on it? Me thinks (thought I saw somewhere) it was made by Alpine (which isn't too bad I guess).

Aha, a sub does exist there! Know what they say, if I can't see it, I don't believe it!

Does the sub sound bassy like aftermarket ones where you can hear the bass outside lol? Or is it just slightly more bassy than standard speakers are? I miss the bass when i had a 12” alpine sub years ago

in my a3 with b&o system at this point o dont have sub problem. but i dont hear rear speakers. they play but very low./ its like they tuned douwn. i dont wnow is that haw they make it work or mine hase problem. and is there way to sww if i have problem. o dont like the sound at all.

Are you referring to the rear door speakers / tweeters or the ones in the C-pillar? The C-pillar ones, I tried my best to put my ear there (my head can't fit in the gap), but couldn't hear anything. Maybe my hearing is not as good as it was before...rear door speakers and tweeters, yes they work. Well the tweeter I do the 'wave my hand' past it several times, and can hear some frequencies 'wooshing.'

yes yea yes. there is no problem with your ears. they just stole money from as. i dont know b&o or audi. sound is ****. for that money i could put some focal with sub and amp and the sound would be like a dream. that was first and last mistake i made with audi.

No doubt an aftermarket solution would be 'superior' combined with sound deadening in the doors with a proper amp. My experience with B&O, the first month (I don't drive everyday) it sounds REALLY bad..like there's no sub nor amp present and it's 'confused'...after that it improves quite drastically. I've sat in cars such as Mini and BMW 3 series with HK, along with VW's Dynaudio, and Toyota Camry with JBL, and there was an Audi A5 with (I think it was either B&O or B&W) with tweeters rising up of the dash. The HK in the BMW / Mini were better than the B&O on the A3, and the A5's rising tweeter system, well that was in a different league. Imagine how bad the stock 6 speaker setup is on the A3 if that's the case!

Doesn’t the b&o just need running in before it sounds good? Seem to get mixed reviews

thats because vocals came only from 4 dash speakers all doors playing low end plus tweeters. this is very bad setup

I noticed the same on my SQ5 but when i switched off 3D sound it resolved this. I think its a feature that manipulates the way sound is transmitted when the 3D sound is enabled
