Maps finally updated...on its own.

I wanna try this but I am nervous about bricking my MIB
You can only run the M.I.B tool on MIH2 units (so the MIB2 High).

And dont be afraid to brick your system. This will only happen when power lost in the middle of an update.. So just put your battery on charge and turn on the engine and do the update.

Mine just finished, just under 40mins for the EU 2022 map update

Hello friend. I want to do a map update on my A3 8V FL (2017). Car has a virtual dashboard, so I guess it has MIB2 High? I have two question about updating:

1) License for my navigation updates is valid until March of this year, does that mean that I can update without hack? Since general procedure from Audi involves also updating map vis SD card...

2) Concerning software version of the MMI, I see on your photo that is version 1326, and my is only 0875. How do I update software on MMI? Is that different than updating map and navigation?

Since I am recent owner of this car, any help would be apricated. Attached is the photo of my MMI.

Hey mate,

With VC Dash you have a MIH2 (MIB2 High) unit yes.

1) License for my navigation updates is valid until March of this year, does that mean that I can update without hack? Since general procedure from Audi involves also updating map vis SD card...
Yes, if you have an Audi license active you can just update online.. You MIH2 unit will have a connection to the Audi servers. However, downloading 25GB over the 2G in your car can take a long time so it's quicker to do with the SD-card indeed. I've read that the Audi servers were sh*t the last couple of months so I would rather just go for the SD-card option indeed.

Just download the maps, put them on your FAT32 SD-card and go into the REM menu (hold NAV + MEDIA for 10sec) then choose update > SD-card slot 1 > and let the system find the update and start it.

NOTE: NEVER SHUT YOUR ENGINE OFF DURING THE UPDATE AND MAKE SURE START/STOP IS DISABLED. WHEN YOU LOSE POWER IN THE MIDDLE OF AN UPDATE YOU CAN POTENTIALLY BRICK YOUR SYSTEM.

2) Concerning software version of the MMI, I see on your photo that is version 1326, and my is only 0875. How do I update software on MMI? Is that different than updating map and navigation?

This is the version of the DB of the navigation, do you have the latest firmware on your system? You can check that by going into the REM menu (hold NAV + MEDIA button for 10sec) then a red menu appears and choose the 'Version information'. Post it to me in DM and I can see if you are on the latest firmware.

If you need to update this, it's very simple. I can help you out with that, just send me a PM and I will share the firmware with you (official firmware) to update your MIH2 unit.

Thank you very much for the answer. I understand for the maps. Can I use maps downloaded from the link in this thread to update the navigation? Or I need to download maps only form Audi website?

Sorry for double posting.
Here are photos of MMI. I don't need latest firmware if it does not bring any functionality with that.

It does not bring any extra functions but I recall in the latest firmware was a fix for GPS and something with sound.

There is an update for your unit, I can send it to you and walk you through it, it's super simple :).
And yes, you can use the link in this thread to download the maps.

PS, you are on 2015 maps as far as I can see.

Than I don't need new firmware. First I will try to update maps, to see will it update without hacking.

I would like to contact you trough PM, but I don't see that option for me on this forum. When I click on your profile, there are no messages option. Maybe since I am new on this forum, or something else?

No, I am on 2019/2020 maps.

Updated today, went through instructions as laid out, red menu, green menu then applied the 30GB of Europe 2022 Maps. Very smooth process

Hello. Nice to hear. I am still nervous to update mine, I don't know why. You used tutorial from this thread or some other?

Used the tutorial on this thread. Engine kept running, maybe 10-15mins max and then maps loaded and updated via SD card took about 40 mins.

hello Henkkeumus, i am interested in downloading the audi maps to an Audi A3 8V ETRON facelift mib2 non vc. can you please help ?

Ok guys, I got it figured. You will have to be prepared to "hack" your unit with custom firmware to run on your MIB unit. Well, it's not even that, it's firmware running from an SD-card and installing a bootloader into the unit enabling you to run custom scripts on your unit.

Next to the map update it also enables CarPlay, Google Auto and Video in Motion + unlocks lifetime maps (so you can just download maps and update the database of your current model). So yes, it's true that the MIB is "licensed" normally but this patch will make the unit think it has lifetime maps updates and will hapily accept any map update you feed it year after year :).

Download: https://mibsolution.one/?module=fileman&section=do&page=download&paths[]=/ROOT/1/18/M.I.B_3.1.6_20220120.7z

This will download a tool M.I.B. (More Incredible Bash). Get yourself an SD card and extract the content of the 7zip folder to your FAT32 formatted SD-card.
When done so put the SD-card in SD-slot 1 (important), do not put it in slot 2 but in slot 1!

Note: Start your car or make sure it's on power leads to charge battery while updating. If you stop or turn down the power in the middle of an update you'll brick your unit and render it useless.

This tutorial looks a bit sketchy and I was sceptical as first aswell but took the leap of faith in the amazing community it has behind this project and it's the best leap I've ever took :).

1. Open the REM (Red Engineering Menu) by holding the NAV + MEDIA buttons for aprox 10 seconds.
2. Hit 'update'
3. Hit 'standard'
4. Scroll down and hit 'Start update'.
- This will write a bootloader to your MIB2 unit, it does not interfere with your current Audi firmware. Just let is update as usual. The unit will reboot 3 times during the process.

View attachment 248863

5. When the car is started up again hold the buttons NAV + RADIO to open the GEM (Green Engineering Menu)
6. Hit "M.I.B"
7. Scroll down untill you see the option to create a backup. For the sake of backups please create one, there is a great community behind this tool that will help you get back on track if you systems crashed or is not functionalling well. But then they will need logs and a backup ofcourse.

View attachment 248865

Note again. DO NOT, I REPEAT. DO NOT STOP THE UPDATE UNTILL IS SAYS ITS FINISHED. You can scroll down to check up on it's status. Again, NEVER turn off the power during an update. This will brick the device and render it useless, this is not recoverable.

View attachment 248866
View attachment 248867
8. When done you can hit the back button to go back to the 'main menu'.
9. To activate CarPlay, Google Auto and Video in Motion hit the option 'patch_ifs_root_aio'
10. Hit the option 'Flash_patched_image |add FECs | CP/AA coding'
11. Let the update run, again do NOT turn anything off untill its completely done.
12. After the update the system will reboot and CarPlay will be active on your system.

View attachment 248868

13. This update also enables the FEC code for lifetime Map updates. Download the maps in the opening post of this topic and put it on your SD-card.
14. Now go through the normal update procedure through the main menu and your MIB unit will accept the new maps and you can enjoy new maps every year they come out.

Note: The GEM menu will be available untill Audi or you renew/update the firmware on the MIB unit.

Hope I can help you guys out with this, if you have any doubts or difficulties PM me I'm happy to help out.
Hi, I would like to do just lifetime Map updates on my 2018 SQ7, I already have on my unit android auto and video in motion activated. So, for activating lifetime Map updates I still need to make step 10.? or what I have to do for activating that option? Thank you for your answer.

Yes you need to patch your firmware. That is found on
User Guest
Pass Guest
M.I.B/M.I.B_patches
Download the file and select firmware that matches yours EXACTLY. Extract this on place it in the folder named patches in the MIB flash software and flash the FEC file with Dec code 23000EE which already will be in the fec file for you It MIB software will only write fec codes that are not there already.

Hi folks - first time poster so go easy. Thanks for this - most helpful. I have followed the instructions, gone into the red menu, flashed with the exact same firmware as was already on my car. Then into green menu, took a full backup. I already had Apple car play so just wanted the lifetime maps but get an error "addFecs.txt not found - fetching from backup". I have copied the addfecs.txt file to /patches in fact dotted it everywhere but it still says it cant find the file.
Any pointers as to what I am doing wrong?

You should install MIB via the red menu. Which you obviously have then Go to the green menu and select to flash firmware and then flash fec file.

Hi Booboo. Thanks for trying to help me out here. I re-did the SD card and flashed with the green menu. It said Apple car play and Android was active. No error this time. When I try and update the map to 2022 version I get No update can be found on this medium. Back into red engineering menu and check FEC installed I still have 02300026 which is 2020/2021 maps. I cannot for the life of me get the FEC code to update. I'll try again later and take some pictures of the process and hopefully you can point me where I am going wrong?

If the process is success full you'll see 23000ee in the fec code list 2300026 will still be there too

Still not successful but here is what I did :-
I had a thought that when I originally went into green menu to patch MIB I didn't have the exceptions.txt or addfecs.txt in the /patches folder because I don't read instructions properly. Decided to restore the original backup folder to an SD card and restore it back to pre-fiddle. This went well.
I then formatted the SD card as FAT32 again and copied the contents of MIB onto the card (See folderstructure.jpg). I then copied the entire contents of (folderstructure2.jpg) to the /patches folder which I did not do before. Went to the car and inserted SD Card into slot 1, started green menu and hit patch ifs_root in the menu and it immediately came up with Android and CarPlay active and then ran some backups then gave the what I assume is an error in IMG-0696.jpg attached but the file it says it cannot find was in the /patches directory.
Just to finish I did check red menu and no code 023000ee in there. Just the original ones.
Please help!

Success!
Hopefully this will save people some time. There is a folder called patches which says "Copy patches here". I did, literally extract the patch and the .txt files to here. I was completely wrong. You need to copy the patch FOLDER to the /patches directory and ensure the addfec.txt and exceptions.txt are contained within. Hopefully the images attached will make sense.
Thank you to Booboo for the help. Think I may stick around here as it looks a great community.

Thanks!

Hey,

just found out about this, and wanted to patch 2016 S3 8V (FL), but I couldn't find patch for my unit. My version is MHI2_ER_AU37X_P3242, MU Software 0679.
Is there any update I need to install first?

Thanks

You can only run the M.I.B tool on MIH2 units (so the MIB2 High).

And dont be afraid to brick your system. This will only happen when power lost in the middle of an update.. So just put your battery on charge and turn on the engine and do the update.
How did you do that navi update on the mib1 high+? I have the navigation update put on sd kart 1 but my mib 1 &high+ didnt instal it. Its the same what you had on youre screen. Must i also instal the patch on mib1 high+?

Put the update on your SD-card and then go into the RED enigeering menu.

Then go into update and look for your SD-card and run the update.

Note: do not turn off the engine while updating, even if you think its taking a long time, let it run! Also dont go for a drive, your start/stop could break/brick the system while updating! Either let the engine idle or put the battery on a charger while updating.

Look for your software version via the red menu, push the 2 silver buttons forward together. I didn't update my firmware I simply flashed the version I had installed

I think I'm in the same situation.
Please, can someone help me to understand what procedure I've to follow to unlock my mmi (mib 1, I suppose...)?
My software code is "MHIG..." and I didn't found any modded firmware in the repository of the post #74 (MHIG folder is empty). Can I apply the M.I.B. hack on the original firmware as well?

Thanks.
