Morning,

Looking to collect an S3 Vorsprung Sportback towards the end of the month and want to make sure that the dealer updates software to the latest version prior to collection - dont really want to wait a year for first service! Would the latest software for the MMI still be 3660? I found this version number on an earlier thread, though not sure if this relates to the MMI for the Virtual Cockpit Plus.

Any other software that should be updated other than just the MMI?

I will of course just ask the dealer to do this but if I had a version number to refer to it might assist and show them that I may actually know what I'm talking about :)

Thanks in advane,

Richard

Mines 3620 and I’m told that’s the latest version, this was installed just before Christmas.
Don’t think I’ve seen 3660 but my car is in for service on Friday so I’ll ask about it.

Thank you for that Sam. I saw another thread on here for update 3660 but it looks like it may only be for specific VIN numbers from what others were saying. Hopefully someone will be able to confirm. Otherwise I will make sure dealer checks software is at least 3620.

My S3 is a year old at the end of April and is going in for a software update this Thursday - i’ll let you know what update number once i get it back.

There is some great info on this forum, really glad I signed up. So far I have ascertained that I need to ensure the dealer checks the following updates are not outstanding:

- MMI update, 3620 or maybe 3660
- SOS update
- Reverse camera update

Have I missed anything?

Will happily feedback anything I learn once I have the car!

When I booked my service they said there were 2 updates that needed to be done. They couldn't say how long it would take, maybe a full day, maybe two (service plus SW update). For those getting the 2 updates could you let me know how long they needed to keep your car for? Thanks!

Software update completed today 3640.
And a maps update too apparently, but on the drive home from the garage the maps were basic greyscale no aerial view so i’ll have to get that checked out.
Biggest nightmare was logging in again as me, car was back to factory default settings, but i sat in the driveway for a few mins and got logged in, phone reconnected and radio favourites saved again.
Can anyone remember how to personalise the 3 boxes on home screen ?
mine was always Media, Clock, Maps but now i have phone in the middle and i miss the clock …

All sorted, maps settings needed the toggle switch changed to satellite maps, and a long press on the home screen boxes allows for personalisation.
Seems all i needed was a little patience ….
(husband would say i’ve more chance of winning the lottery than developing patience)

i got brand new rs3 build moth ago as its on software 3620 no sos error at all so far haha

I’m being told by the Audi dealership that the MMI software for my S3 is the current version it’s not its 3496 :whistle2:

They’ve also managed to scratch my steering wheel, losing the will with Audi they’ve been an absolute joke since I first bought the car

3496 - that’s a bit far off the current software !
I’ve noticed my MMI is a lot quicker since the update, although it didn’t appear to me to be slow before, guess it was, and thank god i never had any of the mad software issues that people had been reporting.
Scratched steering wheel ? I’d be raging !
Where in the UK are you ? I can highly recommend Belfast Audi - they’re always courteous and helpful and i’ve been using them for 20 years now. Come over for a weekend break and book your car in for the software update lol !

I bought the car from York Audi, who were **** for want of a better word once I’d signed up to buy the car. The deal they did was decent and no one else could get near it.

Had it looked at today at Bradford Audi as it’s nearer to me, but they don’t seem any better. Just had a call from service manager throwing out all the “they use latex gloves, they take care” etc. I anticipate they’ll come back on Monday and tell me they don’t think it happened whilst it was with them, I’m trying to get angry about it yet just in case they actually sort it out, I’ll be honest I’m struggling lol

Ah that’s tough - they’ll deny deny deny and how do you actually prove they scratched it. I feel your pain.
Lesson learned though i guess - if they’ve been that ****, when you change car next time, maybe they don‘t deserve your hard earned cash ?

Oh for sure. Won’t be buying another Audi when this goes. I’ve already got a mark 8 Golf R on order, just waiting for it to arrive.

So collected my S3 yesterday from the dealer and can advise that the software loaded up from factory is now version 3691.

Mine running 3620 decided to forget all my favourite radio stations today. First gremlin I’ve had with the car so far.

Software Version 3691 RS3 collected a few days ago now.

Still has the bug from previous MMIs about constantly wanting to load updated individual settings which is getting annoying.

Is this the bug where it makes you click your name/user every time you turn on the car and mmi starts up? This is what happens to me and it’s really annoying, on my previous q3 it just started up automatically. Not sure why it’s asking me to choose user each time.

You don’t have to click on the user each time. Providing it is your user name and it is not pin protected it will disappear after about 30 seconds driving logged into that account.

Yes I realise that, but sometimes you want to do other stuff with the mmi before you set off like set a location on sat nav or change radio channel therefore you need to accept. It’s clearly not a hardship to accept the user or wait 20 secs but I think all we are saying is it shouldn’t do that, once your logged in it should not need to ask you each time. I had the same mmi system in a 70 plate Q3, and even though older software version, it never asked you to accept user each time you turned on the car.

But the whole point is that Audi now think that every man and his dog want to log into everybody’s else’s car so that option has to be made available when the car is first entered. Daft I know!

Apparently there was a button when you set up mmi which said don’t show this again. My dealer is going to advise how to resolve.

No this is the bug where every time when you get past the login screen it says there are updated settings available and would you like discard or apply them.

Pressing either button seems to do nothing to stop the box appearing again at the next car restart!

Have asked Audi Digital UK to sort it - not getting my hopes up on that one.

I never had this before, but boy do I now. Every time "updated settings available" and no matter what option you choose you get the same prompt next time. :|

I've written to Audi Digital UK hoping they can delete the remote settings that are stored so that my car can upload new ones or something.

I had the bug were it was asking me to apply/discard settings continually, I ended up deleting the car from MyAudi and factory resetting the MMI, then added the car to MyAudi and then setup the MMI in the car not seen the message since.

Tried this didn’t work for me.

Also after a while of ignoring the prompt (1 week or so roughly) it decides the user is not using the car and then logs you out - even though I’m logged in just not touching the prompt as it’s useless!

Still on 3691 don’t think there’s an update either yet.

Yep I'm getting this too, only started happening for me in the last week or so!

This isn’t just confined to A3’s. It’s been doing it to me in my A6 everytime I’ve got in the car over the last week. Did it when I first had it, then didn’t for a few months.
I don’t think it’s software related but server.

They reset something which didn’t do anything so it’s gone back to the technical team again for more investigation now!

As I get closer to my service date, I've been told I need to leave the car with them for 3 full days for service plus software updates!

Mines going on for its first service on Friday. It needs three service updates. I’ve been told that the software updates can take between 6 & 12 hours, depending on how it goes.

I had the first service and software update to fix the MMI last week. Dropped off at 8am and it was ready to collect same day at 4:30pm.

No SOS call malfunction or MMI reboot since and mine were constant before. Only took a year!

I just had the software updates done, got my car back today after 2 full days.

It went from version 3454 to 3620.

My cars 1 year old.

1.5 S-Line S-tronic (comfort and sound).

Maybe they’ve stopped giving people 3691 or it only comes with cars from the factory.

If you have a choice don’t take 3691 it’s pretty buggy!

How have you found it since? Did it fix all your issues?
So far absolutely no problems. I live in central London so for me reboots and SOS malfunctions were common on every single drive, without fail. e.g. I would usually have 4–5 on the drive to/from the dealership and after this update had zero. Initially had a problem connecting to Apple CarPlay wirelessly, but solved this by removing the device and re-adding it.
