I'm running a RS3 FL (DAZA) with the APR stage 1+ map. It has the Forge turbo elbow, Forge hard pipe, drop in K&N panel filter and a REVO intercooler. It made 521 bhp and 514 lb ft torque on what is known to be a very accurate Dynojet dyno. The power and torque curves are very good as you would expect from APR. The car feels very quick on the road and I'm reluctant to change it really.

I am tempted though to add a Scorpion sports cat downpipe for a bit deeper sound (has Audi sports exhaust) and a tad more performance. I want to stay legal and avoid a decat. I would have to change tuners as APR no longer offer stage 2 ecu maps.

I've been advised by a very respectable tuner (who could have sold me a downpipe and map) that I would not really gain much at all performance-wise over an APR stage 1+ map with a sports cat and stage 2 map. I've also read on American forums that the APR stage 1+ map is almost the same power-wise as the discontinued APR stage 2 map. A lot say that most gains come from the intercooler (which i already have) on this engine.

A couple of questions really:

1. Is anyone else running the APR stage 1+ map and how are they finding it?

2. Has anyone made the move from APR stage 1+ to another tuner's stage 2 (Unitronic for example) and, if so, what performance gains did you make? How does the car drive after the changes?

I only run 98 ron pump fuel

Thank you

It sounds like no one has gone down this route. Has anyone gone stage 1+ with another tuner (unitronic for example) to stage 2?

Yes, Uni and it was a considerable difference in driving feel. I did it mainly for noise but you could immediately tell the car felt held back with the standard cat and in my case gpf filters. Sounds like you are DAZA so there would be less to gain and you are already at good numbers so the worth would be less so for you.

I went from Mrc stage 1 to Mrc stage 2 map with the dp. Was 495ps on stage 1 with 690nm and on stage 2 am 525ps with 735nm
On octane booster I am 565ps/745nm.

defo noticed a difference in performance going stage 1 to 2 with the dp. Car is relentless and keeps pulling.

Mine is almost stage 2 as the APR stage 1+ map is different to the stage 1 map in that it is tweaked to run with an uprated intercooler and intake. The tuner said he would sell me the downpipe and stage 2 map but probably only make 15/20 bhp/lb ft across the range and I'd hardly notice it on the road. It seems that the big gains come from the intercooler on the FL.

What downpipe did you fit instead of the GPFs if you don't mind me asking ? What did you do about the pressure and temperature sensors ?

Chris.

Milltek sports cat downpipe with opf delete. The sensors are disconnected and coded out with stage 2 software.
