Hi.
i installed eibach pro springs on my 2015 s3 saloon and ever since I am getting some creaking/twanging noises from the front right when I turn the steering wheel while stationary or crawling. I replaced the top mounts with genuine items too to rule that out but it didn’t fix it. It must be a bush or a link or something. Has anyone had similar issues?

Check the spring is pushed up against the stop in the seat on the strut

cheap springs .. like on bed :D

Since some idiots are just raising their number of posts, I will try to help.
There was a discussion of ProKit on 8V somewhere. And that had something about the creacking. Try to find that thread. There was even pictures where to put silicone grease to get rid of it. Helped my case.

Edit.
Found it

If you've got nothing helpful to contribute . . . put a sock in it :blahblah1:

OK man you are so super you are best ;) I wish you best

I will say helpful don't put in car anything which is not Volkswagen or Audi and you will not have any problems.. Why not put RS3 springs on? or S3
Suddenly original parts are bad ??
Ppl messing with aftermarket stuff which is not 100% accurate.

99% of the cars on these forums have aftermarket parts. When my car needs something I always buy from Audi however they don’t offer a lowering spring for the s3.. wait a minute, why am I even replying

That an interesting philosophy considering you were suggesting to other forum members to use non-genuine wheels the other day and posting links to Chinese Audi replica wheel Facebook specials ..

so rs3 isn't lover than s3?
i don't ask you to reply “¯\_(ツ)_/¯“

Incorrect, again.

Both sets of wheel you posted are fake replica wheels made in China. I've copied the listings below for visual reference.

One of the listing even states 'none' genuine so you didn't even have to think too hard about it.

You really need to stop advising people on this forum as someone someday may actually listen to you, and it could be over a serious matter like brakes or similar.

It is, however, you can't exactly put RS3 springs on an S3.

Do you even understand how spring weightings work?

How do you know ? you don't even know and you claiming they are replica ?
OH really?? not advising? SO now you are in conflict with @goodbuzzman1 as he stated 99% has aftermarket or replica parts and on other forums people giving links to china aliexpress for retoritting??
Why you suddenly talking about some brakes when there was no mention of brakes?
Are you sure you are you not now trying to be funny and on purpose attacking me?? You really strange boy !

Oh really since when?? When my friend has it? I have S3 brakes on mine A3 ??
I think you on purpose attacking me ! I think you jealous ore something ?

Look on the picture S3 on the left RS3 on the right so what is the difference?
Or do you even know RS3 springs are more stiffer ? and S3 softer ??
I think you trying to black me or ? What is your intention ?

Yes, I do know. Both are replica. The second even states by the seller that they are replica.

I'm not in conflict with anyone, and the rest of your statement doesn't make sense, I say statement, but you've used question marks, but it's not a question (I think), so who knows what you mean.

I don't believe anyone has said 'look on Aliexpress for a set of genuine Audi parts', if they did they would be corrected fairly quickly.

If you have bought replica wheels like the ones you have posted, they are not genuine, and please ensure you never list them for sale as genuine on this site, or any other for that matter as I could see some angry customers when they turn up expecting OEM wheels, and looking for the stamped logos and part numbers...(which neither of these wheel sets will have)

Again, go away, learn how spring weightings work. It has nothing to do with 'stiffness', it has to do with many things but primarily the vehicle weight on each axle. An RS3 will be heavier based on the heavier five pot engine, therefore the spring weighting will be different for an RS3 over an S3.

Brakes are entirely different, and can be interchanged between some models. It is also quite easy to 'over brake' a car, but the 8v has been around a decade now so many have been tried and tested so folks know what can and can't be done.

For Volkswagen they probably are but those audi definitely are not and if so so what? Suddenly replicas are bad? Wheels are OK to buy replicas, but parts such shockers or , springs or bars, brakes or pads, bearings best to buy audi or VW original but not wheels .. then you can tell all UK aftermarket alloy wheel shops to shut down then ?
OR?

I think a holiday is in order for you, it will give you some time to do some learning.
Go away ? What kind of attitude is this?
Millions of people doing RS3 conversions what are you on about? Really strange ..
We not talking about brakes we talking about ONLY springs that's all . And even RS brakes can be fitted onto S3 or A3 .. I am using S3 rears brakes audi original on A3 and 312 discs and are awesome working perfectly fine
Please just put me into ignore list and leave me be .. OK ?
I like to help people and you jealous because I can help people and am not doing anything wrong !
Stop trolling me as target ..

Do you really think this is replica? No they are not..
And why I would be selling them? I never state on non genuine when something is not

No, they are not genuine to any proper manufacturer.

No one said replica's were 'bad', although my personal experience with them wasn't good, you were merely corrected when you stated they were genuine. You decided to go off on a whirlwind tantrum that's all.

Look here aliexpress links .. https://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/rain-sensor.260399/
And what is wrong with AliExpress purchase? Many retrofit cables wiring harnesses , led cupholders , everyone buying from aliex..

Nothing wrong with them, did anyone say there was?

Do you really think this is replica? No they are not..

You missed the word 'if'.

But, you have stated multiple times that the replica wheels you have linked have been genuine, hence the concern.

Go away ? What kind of attitude is this?

Its asking you to go and learn before getting chronically defensive about something you got wrong, when corrected.

The rest of your post, well, I haven't the time nor inclination to comment as I have already covered 'brakes' previously.

You've been truly put on the ignore list now, for everyone. You managed less than two months this time..

Poor chap!
ANYWAY, I jacked the car up today for a look. The spring is nicely seated. Halfway up the spring there is a plastic sleeve on the coil. I slid it down the coil as far as I could until it was between the 1st and second coil of that makes sense. All creaking/binding/clunking noises are now sorted.

Did you change the springs, etc yourself ? If so, was it a straightforward job ?

Yeah it’s pretty straight forward. Just make sure you have spring compressors. The 3 bolts that go in to the top mount have a tendency to rust and seize too so I would advise to replace top mounts and bearings while you are at it and make sure you have spare bolts too as they don’t come with the mount. You need an opening tool to spread the hub to remove the shock easier. I found that a 1/4 inch ratchet did the trick.

Thanks for that.
I'm just toying with putting new parts on my A3 Sportback, mainly because there has been some low-speed creaking since I bought the car at 2 years old. This has become more noticeable with age.
I don't know if I'll go for a complete change, or just renew bushes and top mounts. Either way I'll most likely get it done at a local independent workshop.

Well I’m no pro I assure you, however with the symptoms you describe, you should bring it to a pro as it could be anything causing it.

reminds me of the time on my S3 8l where I had a knocking noise up front.

I replaced:
The cv joints, the drop links, the ball joints, the arb bushes and it turned out to be………….

a god damn loose subframe bolt. Fixed in 10 seconds at a cost of nothing

Sucks when that happens.

I had everything checked for wear when it was last in for service, but they couldn't find anything obvious.
