Hi gang,
I know they fluctuate, but does anybody recommend any insurance companies, as I’m due for renewal soon and was wondering if anyone has had any decent quotes lately before I start trawling through them?
2014 sq5 bitdi, many thanks
Paul

I would follow the guidance here: MSE and it's always best to get quotes as close to 30 days before renewal as that's when you'll get the lowest price.
Having spent a bit of time this week getting quotes for our three cars which run out on the same day (were on a multi car policy) I thought the process for using the comparison sites was quite swift.

Have you got more than one car in your household? If so then try a multicar quote as it might work out cheaper? It did for me as My SQ5 and the wife's A1 are on a multicar policy with Admiral.

We have been on one with Admiral but the renewal was £800 more than individual policies.

Try our site sponsor.
I/we are with AIB. Gave 'em a try earlier this year and a considerable saving for our SQ5, TT, and RS3 combined.

As Sandra suggests, Paul, go "try our site sponsor." You can always say no thank you to AIB.

Went with AIB this year. Great to deal with.
chris Knotts last year and equally as good, just the renewal wasn’t as competitive.

Esure does my SQ5, I was previously with Admiral and Esure was £250 less at renewal. However, the quotes are so specific nowadays depending on the company, location, history, job etc etc that one persons cheap quote can be another expensive one. The MSE tip about sorting it 20-30 days ahead of renewal date is a top tip too.

One hopes never having to use insurance however having had my car hit whilst parked and unoccupied I discovered two things:

1) A dash cam that works when the car is stationary, locked and unoccupied saves you ££££ in the real world (Blackvue 900x)
2) NFU Mutual are utterly brilliant - and you won't find them on any comparison web site, its an old-skool telephone job, prices were competitive and actually went down at the last renewal.
