What have you done to your Audi A4 B7 today?

The Tiptronic box was great effortless driving, and coupled to quattro you could just boot it away from traffic lights/roundabouts with no fear of a fluffed gear change.
But given my experience I'll always think they are a bit fragile.
Maybe multitronic is better and I was just unlucky.

From what I’ve been able to discover ,multitronic came on 2wd tiptronic on Quattro
Looking for confirmation but that seems to be the most popular consensus

I had a porsche 968 sport with a tiptronic box, nightmare of a thing and totally ruined a really good car.

Time will tell Rob ,after always owning manuals I thought I’d never have an auto.Actively left them out of any search’s
It was after driving a mates bmw that made me consider them. Was impressed enough with the torque and ease of driving the 3.0tdi to take the plunge. I may live to regret the decision but if you never try you’ll never truly know

It would need to be a really good one to even make me think about going back to an auto, let alone buying one, but hey that's just me..lol

That's just old autos Rob if you drive any Porsche nowadays with a PDK box your be pleasantly surprised actually blown away to be honest, a manual just has no place in a vehicle like that anymore or any sports/supercar, cars like that are all sold off paper figures and performance and manuals simply cant compete with any of the dual clutch boxes, an everyday car then i guess its swings and and roundabouts also depends on the car in my opinion, i defiantly wouldn't want a manual in my current car (i don't even think they sell one) but at the same time i do occasionally find myself thinking *** you got 7 gears find one of the bas***d things, not something you experience with a dual clutch though.

Thanks ! I’m not a fan of the chrome however on darker versions I think it looks good, adds a nice contrast and really freshens it up.mine has gone a bit milky in places so I have had a quote to de chrome and rear tints of 300 ,which I thinks quite good and judging by some of the motors they were doing the know their onions
I may well go chrome again but still in 2 minds
Hr 45s as soon as they arrive ,a set of my 19s ,probably the bbs speed lines as their colour is the most suitable.Custom tune and cat back exhaust dual, twin and an s4 rear valance would be nice further down the line.I fancy some Carbon trim and an rs4 grille.Maybe further on still some 18z
Gotta get the gearbox looked into first make sure that’s all good and a full service

Yeh they all go milky, my old S-Line was the same. No real way of 'polishing' them up either. It's pretty much in them once they get to a certain point.

Lol, you can get in line for an RS4 grill.. I've been looking for a good one for months!

Autos, especially those like PDK are 'great' and a technical marvel, sure. Especially in a racing capacity, it's phenomenal.

But any one who seriously drives there for pleasure for the most part don't compare it.

Look at the trend of Auto cars getting converted to manual. Even only ever factory delivered auto cars like the CSL

Racing and Daily driver I can see the appeal, sure. But for Enjoyment = Manual.

Wrap it is then.I’ve already got my name on a grille

Love the wheel, looks great,
It would look better if you remove the RS3 badge, and replace with Sline one.

Opened my glovebox and the lh hinge has cracked.
Managed to get the complete glove box from a guy breaking locally for £20, but I don't fancy swapping the whole box over as the CD changer is in there.
Is it a tricky job? Even removing the pivot pins looks a faff on YouTube though.

Removing the glovebox is simple, only a couple of bolts

And I literally don't think the hinge separates

Just swap the entire thing out (and switch over the lock barrel)

Look under the glove box you'll find two pins at each hang, spray them with some wd40 and with some good pliers pull them out. First you have to release the mechanism thing from the side, remove the fuse box cover and you will see that mechanism.

Just has a thought, your car is lhd, isn't it?
The damper being on the right side of the box will be towards my centre console, and not do easy to access.
Box removal might be the only way anyway.

Yes, its Lhd. But i thought the pins pull into the middle, and yes they can be an ******* to remove.

The pins might be hard enough to remove, but it's disconnecting the damper that is going to be trickier on a rhd car.
I thought it would be the same just the opposite. But now that im thinking about it the damper would be on the far right.. So i guess removing it would be easier.

It's a genuine RS3 wheel and I don't find it offensive. I'll not be replacing the badge non genuine knockoff from ebay. I'm happy enough

Watched it leave ..into the unknown with the 3.0 Quattro, had a proper knock about in it ,so impressed, hopefully it’s stays as good as it is now

time to address my overdue cambelt/water pump replacement, ordered up a kit for the old bus and one for the TT as it needs doing aswell, managed to get both kits all in for £280 , i can live with that, just need a dry day to fit them, and fit the new front drive shafts to the old bus that have been in the garage for months now. :thumbs up:

The new 19 Inch OZ Racing Superturismo LM Alloy Wheels should be here next week , only months late.., better late than never though.

Lowering springs today and trying out wheels .went for these first ,thought the diamond cut finish would work with the chrome trim ,expecting a touch more settlement

i was about to say you could get away with another 5mm on the rear.

how are you finding the ride height on the quattro, is the front a bit up compared to your previous B7

The Oz alloys i have on route are ET38 as i have factored in getting clearance for the 18z's and possible need to add a 5mm spacer if need be.

It’s fine rob ,not really no ,if anything the opposite

I ended up going with apex 40 ,won’t lie ,70£ cheaper than hr and eibach did help the decision but I could decide on 35 pro or 45 hr so I split the difference..very happy with them ,not harsh at all

Actually, having not ground down the rear hub spigot yet I could probably get a 5 mm spacer on and still have enough left to hand a wheel on
Have u seen those hub spigot extenders you can get

Maybe the extra 100kg the engine adds has something to do with it
