Anyone else with a newer Q5/SQ5 wrapped the gloss black bit in the centre console?

My cars just over a couple of weeks old and you can see it's already getting scratched up. Also, anyone know if it's relatively easy to take apart?

How are you scratching it so easily, had multiple cars & never had it that bad.

Honestly no idea, I barely touch it, cleaned it a couple of times but only with a brand new microfibre cloth. Awful material lol. I think I'll just get some carbon wrap and cover it up.

Haven’t done anything with it at the moment to be honest, I polished it back up and have been extra careful.
Got the same panel in my S5 and despite being extra careful I can already see some light marks.
interested in what you used were the results - any tips?

cheers

It’s not perfect but it came up better than it was! Just a little bit of meguiars scratch x and a buff removed most of the light stuff.

I’d like to cover it with something though really.

Thanks - I’ll give it a go. Had the same issue on my old A5 and not matter how careful I was, it marked and so suspect longer term an alternative solution may be needed. any Ideas how that piece of trim can be removed?

I had a quick search could only find guides on the older trims. I’m sure someone will do it soon though! (I hope) could always try and wrap it in place but it won’t be as nice I guess.

Yep I’d like exactly that, just for the newer design.
Just found this thread having taken delivery of facelift SQ5 sportback a few weeks back… car in this week for dechrome / ceramic coating and hopefully getting the console PPFd. Did you ever find a carbon fibre look cover for the new model?

Hey,

Congrats on the delivery! I've also ceramic coated mine but tried it out as a DIY Job. (never again) Would love to see some pics of yours once the dechrome is done as I'm keen to get that done too.

In regards to the console I didn't find one, I can still only see wraps for the old shape.

So in the end only partial dechrome, just did window surrounds and swapped out wing mirror covers to the carbon fibre ones.

Full dechrome was binned for 2 reasons, 1st the lower front bumper is textured so cannot be wrapped and 2nd the front badges need bumper removal to change, which is a faff. I might revisit at some point!

Also had centre console and B pillars PPFd. There an template for the centre console apparently, apart from the storage lid which the installer templated.

Anyway, here it is…

Nice one!

Do you know if your installer was using XPEL or another PPF brand for the console PPF?

I've had the B-pillars and lower sides done on my SQ5 sportback with Gyeon everywhere else. Unfortunately he couldn't do the rear bumper because XPEL hadn't a template at the time for it,

Yup it was XPEL. He did say they were a bit hit and miss with templates.

I found it easier/cheaper to just get my Stafford Audi dealer to replace:

P1000581Piano black centre console

Wrapping, etc, alternative prices/effort just became too silly: Stafford Audi did it in the day and I was gifted an RS7 to play with during...

Just saying :racer:

Nice one I'll look into that, probably same time the rear bumper is an option - right now the dog is getting launched into the back so his claws don't catch the sill
