Hey guys , new to the S3

just put MOTUL 300V power 5w-40 in my 16 S3. I got it free from the dealer I work with and bought the car from. I soon realized not many people use it for S3s. I ordered LiquiMoly 5w-40 but it will take a week to get here. So question is, no problems should come from Motul 300v for just a week right?

It is absolutely fine, and for the cost of it you might as well leave it in there for a while and get your money's worth.

The 300v is very, very good stuff indeed.

Cheers,

Guy

Oh really? Yeah I saw it’s not cheap but people say it’s not rated for our engines. But that is something to consider. Thanks bro!

They probably mean it is not rated as in it does not meet any VAG specs, such as the VW504.00 recommended for the S3 8V but that does not mean it is not ok to use, if you decided to take your S3 racing, the 300v is the kind of thing you would use. The thing to bear in mind is the 300v is not a longlife oil so will need to be changed after several thousand miles or once a year what ever comes first.

As it is already in there, and a really good quality oil might as well get the most from it.

I believe the engine in your S3 is the same as the one in the Golf R? Those guys love the Millers CFS NT+ 5w-40 which is very similar to the 300v and does not meet any VAG approvals either.

Cheers,

Guy

Ok glad to hear this, makes a lot of sense. Yeah it doesn’t meet the VAG requirement but I’ve heard a lot of good about it. So I’ll just keep it in there. I commute about 2,000 miles a month so I’ll change it sometime next month. Thank you tho. Appreciate the insight. It’s always nice to have reassurance .

I used to use motul all the time before I got audis only changed cause i normally had the service plans with the audis. Last car had 120k purely used motul. This car was tracked and driven hard all its life and had no issues. Was weird at first as it’s bright green compared to normal oil type colour. Not sure if it’s changed since.

Yeah this one was bright Orange.

All looks good tho, we will see how it works out. I noticed my oil temp was 227 instead of 221 but that was just at first . Now islets normal
