I’ll be keeping mine until it rusts away mate.

Got a feeling it might be engine rebuild time soon

Same happened with B5's and B6's; people go newer or different.

Bit sad to be seeing mine go tbh, but my mileage / distance / time in the car is going to be increasing so felt it was worth getting something newer and hopefully a bit more efficient. Ended up going for a B9 Quattro so probably same same but certainly a bit comfier!

I tried to love it Rob I really did I had moments I properly loved it and spent way to much money on it but 80% of the time I was kidding myself spending thousands to make myself feel better lol, either way I don't regret buying it or experiencing the B7 she's a bit to dated on the interior now but exterior still a lovely looking car you defiantly forget its 15+ years old, without sounding up my own a$$ coming from a fully loaded E class estate it never compared spec or feel wise and I really miss that luxury feeling and just the space in general obviously there not comparable cars but that's the situation I was in at the time and the B7 was the best choice for my budget after the silver arrow died, my hearts always been with Mercedes since i was a kid so it only makes sense to get back in a newer one, never the less I met a load of great people here and ill always pop in and say hello and help out where I can as plenty of you have helped me out along the near 2 and half years of ownership and frankly its been an awesome experience and a great forum, thanks everyone :icon thumright:

I've had Audi's for the past 20 years.
My car at the time was a C5 A6 2.5tdi q sport, but I thought I fancied a Merc estate. A colleague had a C250 ('13) as a company car so I gave it a whirl. To say I was bitterly disappointed is a massive understatement. It was terrible in all respects. I really don't see the appeal, BMWs either.

I'll be keeping my old girl for a while longer, but when she goes it'll be for a Q5.

Each to there own I don't think you can disregard a brand by driving one car for 5 minutes and if you are an Audi fan boy your defiantly miss out on experiencing some nice cars along the way, saying that the c class has never appealed to me there same as the a4 and 3 series the older ones are all built on a budget (interior wise lots of plastic) and spec options are very limited or rare to find hence why I like the next size up like the E, A6 ect I'm not a fan of bmw's either the interiors haven't changed since the 80's, I was tempted by an sq5 really nice looking cars and love the bitdi engine but found a nice 2014 E350 amg sport saloon in diamond white I couldn't say no to.

No plans to part company with mine, i have the occasional " shall I sell it" moment but that's been going on for the last 7 years..lol

And now I've lashed out on an old and beaten up mk1 TT I'm even less likely to sell the B7 , long live the old bus.:yahoo:

I've had the " better car itch " so many times over the years and scratched it , its full circle time again. :icon thumright:

1.8t transverse is a solid motor, lots of fun on the cheap. Ko3 version is my favourite. .

I consider selling the B7 daily for something more practical like s pick up truck diesel estate. B7 is a decent car thats comfy it it just excels in no particular niche. Plus I’m abit scared to rag it properly as engine rebuilds are inconvenient

I’ve had several mark 1 TT 225 Q’s and loved em. You can get half decent power out of them relatively cheap.

I think it’s gonna be rebuild time on the b7 soon though. The valve stems are def shot and gaskets/seals are going every other month at the moment.

I also like the idea of adding WMI and putting the hybrid compressor I have in the K04 and having a 14 year old 400hp sleeper that keeps up with newer S3/4/5’s and Golf R’s etc

Since I’ve put the flat bottom S3 wheel in mine I don’t feel like the interior is as dated.

I think the gloss black trim helps.

Pic of one of my old TT’s cus, you know, we love pics.

Excuse the state of the drive, we’d just had our extension and the drive hadn’t been done yet.

Guess its what you want from a car Rob as a kid I loved everything about the 90's cars and when I passed my test about 8 years ago I always wanted a Jap car something old school and the Supra or Evo was the one I wanted,, Supra prices went sky high and I opted for a Honda Accord Type R over the Evo at the time as I've always been a big fan of Hondas absolutely loved that car and still one of my favourites to this day out of all the cars I've drove over my lifetime but I'm at a time now where I want something nice and modern to sit in and feel nice to drive yet look smart, luxury and fast all in the same package and you cant compare with the newer cars for that all in one offer hence the move for me.

The Mrs loved my b7 from the moment we looked at it she just fell in love with it she's always been an Audi fan at heart so towards the end of the year possibly her birthday early next year ill look at surprising her with a 2.0 tdi quattro Q5 so ill be on here moaning about what's wrong with it soon enough :grimacing: lol

It was in amazing condition for its age. Had 168k on the clock when I sold it but it drove like new. Do miss it sometimes.

I love mine, but at the minute its breaking faster than i can maintain it. Just as i seem to be getting on top of the work, more goes wrong and its not like its a neglected car either, it always gets the best whenever anywork is carried out.

Maybe its just a phase who know knows, maybe once the rest of the work is done it should be sorted for 100s more miles?

Either way im too invested at this point to give it up, may aswell get it sorted and hope everything settles afterwards

If anyone is in the market for a Recaro interior I've listed mine in the classifieds. Price is negotiable, ideally like it gone asap as it has filled the tiny shed.

I think way too many guys fall into the trap of becoming slaves to their cars and most certainly this is the case with B7's.
They are such a good car when running well but when they are broken it becomes a lot less appealing, they are getting on in years now, not old on the scale of things but at the point when age and wear/tear comes into play more often than one would really like.

And once you start tinkering with them it just becomes more apparent as more parts will need replacing, hence why I always say, don't become a slave to your car, use it and enjoy it, but don't spend your life looking at it and fixing it.

I've had a fair old blob of downs with mine, but when it's working, it's working... :icon thumright: :yahoo: , and since I've refrained from messing around too much with it, life with it has become much more user friendly.

just my input .

My old bus owes me nothing now and is only worth a few grand but it still makes me grin which is worth much more so it will be here for some time to come.

I’m a slave without any time to do what I want to do to it . Lol and now thinking of a new project before I’ve even started doing the forged bottom end and K04 conversion

When the kids are a few years older me and the Mrs are getting a van something along the mwb high top transit ish route and converting it, not many things compare to living on the road and having everything you need in a confined space either I'm crazy or its the traveller in my blood but either way nothing compares to a good road trip to know where creating memories!

I’ve not been about for a while due to work and family commitments, also the wagons been semi off the road until a couple of months ago but... I’m definitely not selling mine. Just spent the last year getting the damn thing working properly again.
My mechanic mate says I’m in too deep now, honestly not bothered as I enjoy it and it keeps me out of trouble... most of the time.

Same as me, I’m in way to deep to give up on her now.

I’m also not that concerned about it looking old inside or out. As long as a cars comfortable and quick/fun to drive I’m happy.

I´m still here... Not as active as in my Uk days, but still here withing the B7 - no thoughts of parting with the avant even if the ´´old bus´´ (yes Rob, got that from you :D ) ****** me off frequently these days. with 315K on the clocks and the condition it is there´s not much resale value anyways :D Truth is I still like the B7, the way it handles, drives, the power options it has once tuned, and most importantly it still have the looks.. unlike some newer cars, so I intend to keep it as long it lives.
Actually looking into buying a B5 tdi, or mk3 golf as a second daily car,
