Dimming Rear view Mirror with Button - 8S0857511A

Does anyone have this rear view mirror on their Audi A3? part number 8S0857511A (photo below) - if so, when you turn the car on is the dimming function on by default? or off (and you need to press the button to turn it on)? deciding between this mirror or the frameless auto-dimming mirror (without button), though I do like the option of being able to turn it off if the mirror gets too dark.

And is also auto deactivate if you put your reverse gear
