RJW's Avant

Thanks for that, I'm in the same boat, don't use the car as often as I used to.

Where do you plug it in? Battery terminals ( under the bonnet ) or somewhere else in the car. Only ask, as I had my battery tested yesterday and it came back all good. But when they tested it they opened up the hatch, somewhere near the spare wheel.

You connect the CTEK using the clips to the terminals in the engine bay on the drivers side. There's a positive terminal under a red flap and a negative post (both clearly marked). I close the bonnet running the cable out the front. The charger also came with an addition cable if you want to wire it the connectors in permanently and would be in the boot floor by the battery.

I thought the battery is in the engine bay, I need to have a look in the boot

Battery is in the spare wheel well. As above always connect to the charging points under the bonnet and never directly to the battery.

Thank you. Agreed, just did a RTFM as well. I was looking at the CTEK 56-870 Comfort Indicator Cig Plug, but the Audi manual says don't use these and also to connect a battery charger to the terminals under the hood. And just found my CTEK MXS 5.0 in the garage, almost five years old now according to the receipt. Will take a proper look over the break.

I had very similar issues several weeks ago, I bought a CTEK too and found the same behaviour - it would charge up from 2 to 8, but then it would need doing again in a matter of 1 - 2 weeks, then stop/start and other random messages would appear. My car was going into the dealer anyway and I asked them to check the battery - it had a fault and it was only just under years old. I ended up paying out for a new one :(

CTEK was used this weekend, I ended up having to get a couple of the CTEK extension cables so I could keep the charger in the garage.

Next question... I'm looking at getting one of these Audi jack pad adapters, anyone recommend a particular make? TIA

I would get 4 of them as most garages won't have any adapters, I've left them in the car just in case I get a puncture and need to find a garage quickly.

You could spend the money and buy the powerflex ones, but I got the £6 ones of ebay and they have been fine.

Good idea. Haven't thought of getting 4, was just thinking of getting the one for my trolley jack.

Would anyone have a reg number of a BiTDI fitted with red brake callipers. I'm trying to get a price for red brake callipers but need a vehicle with red callipers so I can give to Audi. Many thanks.

Part numbers are 4G0615107F (left) 4G0615108F (right). Price is £1156 each! they are manufactured by Brembo.

Also come in black

Interesting they were not listed as an option for the UK A6, could have been an option for the euro market Audi A6.pdf (bigmarketing.co.uk)

Heated seat memory question team. The heated front seats are switched on, the ignition is switched off and the car is then locked. Upon returning to the car, unlocking and switching on the ignition, the passenger heated seat is switched off and the drivers seat remains on, on the last setting. Is this normal?

I'm 99% sure this is a programmable feature, that could be turned off to avoid it coming on every single time as you say.

I'm certain I turned it on on my car, in winter I set it to "On" and it always comes on. But in summer I set it to "Off" and that's the state it remembers each time.

Can you remember what the setting was?

Tell a lie, I may be wrong there. I used Carista, I just checked their website and it doesn't seem to suggest they offer that function. Maybe I just changed the "Turn from level 3 to 2 after..." setting.

Either way, it should remember the last state. If you turn it off when exiting the car, it should remain off when you start it again.

Whilst the passenger one always defaults to off when starting the car.

That's how mine works anyway.

Thanks, I've done some research on this, the VCDS mods that were suggested were not available on mine.

I also have Carista and I changed the settings for the heated seats. You can set it to drop down a level after 15 minutes intervals. So after 45 minutes they will switch off. If I park the car and come back it remembers the last state of the seat temp. Nice to not have to always be pressing the button during winter.

Snap, one of the better options

I think they are the comfort seats. They have more adjustment and massage function.

Thanks. So, were they def an option on the S6? I thought the original seats may have been misplaced?

I would think that the guy who spec’d the car wanted the massage seats more than the super sports seats

I've been looking at batteries today, prices for the same battery ( 95 amp hour ) are massive. ECP £465, Car Parts 4 Less £230, Amazon £137. Am I missing something? Or is there another supplier or make I should be looking at. I've tried to go for the largest amp hour I could find. TIA

For future reference, EuroCarParts and CarParts4Less are the same company, the latter is just online only (less overheads), the returns process is a little more convoluted, but if you know you’re ordering the correct item then it shouldn’t matter. They’ve saved me tonnes in the past and they still run promotions/discount codes too!

Well, the car went today. It was good while it lasted, a lovely and comfortable land yacht, but just didn't get used much in the last 6 months.
