A3/S3 delivery lead time?

There must be a huge demand is my thinking. I ordered at the end of January A3 Sline with a few extras which originally had a build week of 27 (July) then all of a sudden found out last week it has been built and on its way to the port for shipping to the UK.
When I was ordering my A3, the seller showed me production plans for the first half of the year. There was absolutely no A3 in this plan, so no matter when you will order your A3, they will start assembling it in July... or earlier if they move production plans regarding the increased A3 orders.

Your leasing company doesn't by anychance start with a N, ends with E, and their logo is an orange shape of England is it? Ouch, August 2020 is a long time though...almost 8 months, now that's a long wait!
Haha, no not that company. First time I’ve ever leased a car, didn’t expect this length of wait....

Pademic doesn't help either. My previous longest wait (this is my 3rd lease) was just 3 weeks 'after' the usual 12-16 weeks wait.

well its not good news at my end at all , my original quote of 12 - 16 weeks delivery has miraculously vanished , I am now being told to accept that at the time of order minimum delivery time would be 21 weeks +( bull****) and I should have been advised so . Not being entirely satisfied I asked for an explanation to the delay and was told by 2 separate ACS advisors that the problem is being caused by the new RD2 engine not meeting the current wtlp protocol . it would seem the vag group cannot get their **** together even in time for new orders ?

Mine's now jumped forward from build week 32 to week 23, so looking like a handover in July. The salesperson has cautioned that the paint may impact on the date, but it's certainly looking more positive at a 6 month wait rather than the 8 I'd been expecting!

Just ordered a new A3 S-Line 35 TFSI in daytona grey, with comfort/sound and diamond cut alloys.

Just got confirmation that my build date is w/c 24th August.

Just got info from the leaser from the supplying dealer that the A3 I ordered has arrived on UK shores and they would need a bit of time to do the necesesary. Although I have already informed them, to hold on to it for a bit till early June.
I finalised the order early last Dec, had 2 'updates' that the car was expected to arrive at the UK suppler in mid-Feb, then revised to end March, then today email saying it is expected to arrive on 6th, then next email that it had arrived. So from order to it showing up in UK, approximately 4 months over lockdown/full-Brexit. Trim is just a standard Sport Trim Sportback with C&S 30TFSI S-Tronic. Hope the 1.0TFSI has enough oomph in an A3 sized car and it doesn't throw a frequent technology tantrum. Previously had the 'same' engine in a Seat Ibiza that was 100kg lighter, and 2 fewer doors!

Guess I can expect the car to come with Pirelli P7 C2 tyres on 17inch? Anyone NOT get Pirelli's on theirs? I did see some Bridgestone T005s on the 16inch Techniks...but mostly P7s on 17/18 inch tyres...no clue about 19s.

I have Bridgestone Taranza (T005?) tyres fitted to the 18” wheels on my S-Line. (In case it makes a difference, I opted for the lowest cost alloy upgrade.)

Seems quite varied, I’ve got Goodyear Eagle F1’s on my S3, and have the 18” alloys

0ne month tomorrow since order and still no news of a build week it looks like its the 35 tdi causing the problem , called ACS they said speak to dealer , I asked can you check the order again was told minimum 21 weeks ( before a build date is issued ) , its all very vague and rather annoying , pressing the dealer they said call ACS , It feels like i've bought a Lada ?

very close to cancel this order and walk away ..

That's very odd to me as I got told mine the day after my order was finalised.

Indeed , I was told estimated June ? which engine and spec did you select ? after further discussion the dealer agrees that the choice of the 35tdi would seem to be causing the problem due to failure to meet RDE2 levels

I went for the S-Line 35 TFSI in daytona grey, with comfort/sound and diamond cut alloys. I fully expect my build date to change but only time will tell that I suppose.

Good luck on getting a confirmed date though! I know there's production issues across the board now due to a chip shortage so if there's an issue with the diesel engine too then that's only be compounding the problem for you.

Thanks Spenk did you select the S tronic or manual , I hear that this also causes problems re the chip ?

I got the manual, I dont think getting an S-tronic would matter with regards to the chip shortage. I think its just a shortage of silicone chips they use that power the touch screens and virtual cockpit.

anyone ever had this problem. I was told a month ago my car was built and that i should be picking it up next week. However i got this email yesterday.
I have just been in touch to get the latest information on your new Audi A3.

I’ve just been passed on the latest showing Week 21 for the vehicle arriving, which is now the 24th May. However the update previously was showing for Week 16 (19th April), so I have just gone back to them to see if this has been passed on correctly, and if this is correct what the reason for the 5 week delay seems to be.

Hoping that he can tell me this has been done in error and we are still looking for 2 weeks time, but I will let you know ASAP when I hear back from them. Just looking to keep you in the loop.

Not had an email like that, but have had a couple of calls this week from the dealer as our car has just been built. There are a lot of delays at the port due to Brexit and then made worse by bad weather which means it's taking a few weeks extra to get cars over at the moment. I assume it's linked to that. Best our dealer can say at the moment is 'hopefully the end of the month for collection' - but everyone's a bit uncertain.

My vorsprung was stuck at the port of exit for approx 5 weeks before it made it to the UK, seems like that is the general timeframe to expect that car to arrive in the UK at the moment.

4-5 weeks after it reaches port of exit.

this is the responce i got back. seems theyre not having much fun at the factory
I have just contacted the factory again to see if they have any more information.

Your vehicle was previously given an ETA for build of Week 11 which was the Middle of March, and this was still sent over when I asked for an update on that week. However they’ve been informed from the Factory that they have had to slip this back which could possibly be a part supply issue or anything like that. I’m being advised that until a vehicle actually goes into production these are all ETA dates and nothing confirmed. Just to confirm again the new ETA for build is for the week of 19th April, so shouldn’t see any movement once we get here.

Sorry to have to pass the update on like this, I would have thought that the closer we got to the build date this would be pretty nailed on by now. We have also experienced that a vehicle has had a build date slip back to find out in 2 weeks time that it is on its way to the UK so can be a little unpredictable.

thought build weeks once confirmed were pretty solid and wouldn't change the week the car was supposed to be going into production

this could be to do with the microchip shortages back in January, I'm guessing all the cars before now were built but now they might have genuinely run out

Don't think it's the chips as my build week was brought forward. Could be particular engines or parts/options. Could also be political with some dealers being preferred over others - really hard to know what's going on behind the scenes. We know there are delays at the ports and why, but everything that leads up to shipping is as clear as mud!

So all I can tell you is that mine's an S3, so different engine, and the only options you've got that I haven't are: diamond cut wheels, lumbar support and wireless charging. I was given Build Week 17, it was then brought forward to 14 (this week) and has now been built. So it could be the engine or one of your options in short supply or, like I say, some sort of dealer/factory politics. Who can say? I think you're entitled to ask why your build week has been pushed back though as it's a valid question. Just being told 'it wasn't final' or 'it was subject to change' isn't really an answer.

yeah I've gone back to them now to try a get a reason why the build date has changed for a 4th time. I would of changed my spec if they'd of told me it was a problem. I was told when i ordered it id get it quicker if i went for a 35 tfsi manual as they were struggling for automatics and and the 30 tfsi. Getting quiet annoyed and very close to cancelling my order and getting as GTI. I was originally told the car was going to be built mid Feb and would arrive by the end of march

Does seem pretty strange. Might be worth sounding out some other dealers to see if they can do better?

I ordered a Proline 35 TFSI in the beginning of january. Arrived in Sweden on 27th of march. Got a delivery date yesterday via mail, 20th of april. Why do they hold on to it for a almost a month before delivering? It's been a long wait but soon! So excited since it's not only my first Audi, it's also my first car.

Hey guys. Today i got an information from Audi Centrum, that my car has been built and already arrived to my local dealer. I ordered it at the begining of February and there was a plan that i will be able recieve it in July! What a surprise

That's great news :thumbs up:

I doubt the UK orders will be looking at getting our cars any earlier though :suspicion:

It is ingolstadt the 8v was built there as well here is a timeline from start to finish my dealer sent me this generic time line yesterday

My 8V was built in Győr

8Y S3: - Ordered 04/11/20 - Delivered 06/01/2021

I talked to my salesman today, and he said it was a pure miracle, they produced my car already. He had to push my car to the highest priority line, otherwise, I wouldn't see my car till December. If someone ordered A3 model in March, it won't be built for the next half-year at least...

I also heard from the dealer about my car today, its been brought forward by 3 months! Production must be going well !

I’ve also heard from my dealer today. He saying build week 18 with delivery in June. I ordered in January and have been quoted this all the way through.

I ordered in Jan a A3 saloon Sline with a few extras and was given build week 27. I contacted audi customer care on twitter early March and was surprised the car completed build on the 15th March. It has arrived to the UK on the 30th March. Still waiting to hear when it will arrive at the dealer.

Order update.

Hi, we can confirm that your order is currently awaiting its transport from the UK port to your Audi Centre. It has been given its transport order, so it is just waiting to be loaded onto its onward transportation.

Good news. Though build week was meant to be this week (15) , been given no updates from Audi dealer. It was an amended order they already had in so maybe it’s been brought forward and I’ve just not been informed. Ah well. Contacted Audi Twitter who gave me this info. Ordered on 18/2/21.

So mine was built in Build Week 14, so presumably is in the same situation now. Not far off, but this is where the delays have been (thanks Brexit) so we'll see how long they're sat at the port!

i literally joined twitter to ask for an update @AudiUKCare , send them a DM and ask for an update. all you need is your name, what you ordered and order no. see if they say the same thing.

My S3 has been sat at the port of Emden waiting to be allocated to a ship for the last 4 weeks.... According to Audi customer care they can be in that state for up to 20 working days
