Evening all.

Counting down the days till my new S3 arrives from the docks/ dealer and looking into the my Audi app for when it arrives.
Are you able to have multiple profiles for say myself and then my wife so both of us can action things? If like my company car 330e it only allows one person per car so only that one person can lock/unlock/preheat cabin etc.

cheers
Jon

you can have multiple profiles but owner must be setup as key user

No lock/unlock available on the app yet for A3/S3 or preheat cabin - preheat might be available on the tfsi e model - only thing you can do at present is see if lights are on locked etc and that doesn’t always work either

You can lock and unlock from the app. No preheat.

Hey bud, do you have the keyless entry upgrade or using an iphone?

I have neither and it does not let me unlock the car from the app.

I wonder if it is iphone only.

I can't and have the full keyless entry

iPhone. No keyless entry.

edit: it takes a 40-60 seconds to lock and unlock via the app, it’s pretty useless if I’m honest. Would much rather have the preheat function. The Jag F-Paces have a remote start and climate function as standard.

Thanks for the pictures - I don't have that option on My App - I can see all the other parts - Fuel and that the car is locked etc - I think I need to sit in the car and try and link it back up somehow with the MMI

Also Iphone and interesting that you don't have the keyless entry

Sat in the car and I cannot get the option to come up on my phone - Did it just come up when you connected in

I'll have to speak to the dealer at some point to make sure the connect service is all connected properly

So I did a live chat with Audi Digital Services and they have advised that the Remote Lock/Unlock wasn't booked as part of the manufacturing process which I find rather strange - It's not an optional extra that the customer can purchase and the dealer wouldn't pick and choose something like this - The my Audi app bigs all this stuff up so I don't think that is the case

The dealer is looking into it as he'd never heard of that either

I assume it will come down to software version like the Apple Wireless Carplay situation

thanks for posting bud,

Strange that others cannot see the option. Maybe the newer cars come with it - I'm guessing you just got your new 8y?

Yes it must be a software update then. My car was Build week 50/51 iirc.

In all honesty though it is a totally useless feature. It takes about 40-60 seconds to lock or unlock even stood next to the car, and it doesn’t let you start it. Only thing it’s handy for is checking the car is actually locked and if it isn’t and you’re now out of range of the fob then of course you can use the app to sort that out.

Later than mine then - It's not a massive issue but I do like the idea of being able to lock it if you did happen to forget and Audi annoy me that they advertise the APP in the dealer (massive standup display about it) and then you don't get half the stuff - Fine if software update will solve it but to say it wasn't booked at manufacturing is just ridiculous.

I know this doesn’t address your main point, but I assumed that the A3 would lock itself if left unlocked and unattended? My 11 year old Golf does.

That should only happen if you've unlocked the car but don't open a door or boot it then relocks itself - It won't or shouldn't lock if you just walk away from it after getting out - Never known any of the VAG group cars to do that - Would be a safety issue - What if you'd left a child in the car they wouldn't be able to get out

The last time i used my audi app was in 2018 (66 plate A4) and it was not a good experience. Very limited.
Currently using mercedes me app and cant live without it. Looking to replace A Class next year with an A3.

Off topic question is virtual cockpit standard on s line variant. In 2016 it was a paid option.

Now that I’ve had the car for a few weeks I’m finding the app quite useful: for checking my car’s status and for pre-setting the sat-nav destination.

Virtual cockpit is now standard on all trims: though you can only get the larger screen with the highest spec trims (Edition 1 and Vorsprung IIRC).

Anyone having issues when you get in the car?

Mine keeps telling me the key user hasn’t been used in a while and I have to log in every time

Mine did that last Friday, the whole thing has crashed again today.
Today I’ve stated the rejection process as I’m totally fed up with the MMI crashing and the fact Audi, Audi Digital and the dealer don’t know what is happening with my car.

Wow nothing has changed since 2016 then lol. Will have to think twice before i come back to Audi.
Below are pics of some of the services MB offers and they work flawlessly.

Let us know how you get on bud, really interested to know how they will go about resolving it for you.

Hopefully it's smooth as you've been more than fair and taken it back lots of times

It will be last resort rejection will.
Dealer is ringing me tomorrow to discuss some options, I really don’t want to hand the car back but the amount of times I’ve spent back and forth and on the phone it’s become a standing joke in the office where I get asked when my next trip to the Audi garage is booked for.

I know what you mean its the principal of owning a brand new car - we shouldn't have to put up with problems, at the very least they could acknowledge it! So frustrating.

I don't think they ever will as some of the issues such as the SOS warning light have been around for years on older models.

Your dealer will probably point you towards Audi UK to start the rejection process.

They will probably try to take some money back if you've had it between 2-6 months and have put mileage on it.

Have none of it though!

I rejected an A3 approved used car in 2009 which i bought it from Audi Shrewsbury. The next morning when i woke up to check the car properly (it was distance sale i only had seen pics provided by dealer) i found out the car being an ex demo had quick repairs and they were bad. Took it to my local dealer and to correct the repair they gave me an estimate of £4k+. Local dealer sent that quote to Audi Shrewsbury with in two days of rejection/collecting the car i was offered brand new A3 for the same price.
Hopefully they get it sorted for you.

Ooooh - valet protect / valet mode - nice.

I thought Tesla were the only ones that did that.
