Hey everyone. Long time lurker. Just recieved my 2017 a4 avant 3.0tdi (272 variant) in dayatona grey with black pack. Love the car spent ages looking for right car and combo options.

First of all car grips and goes like a rocket so happy days! Car was sold with a "sports exhaust" and sounds like an s4 with bafflers removed...

I'm guessing the cats and or dpfs are gone to make it sound like that? Not got under car to look yet.

Any idea what boost and maf g/s a remapped one on a standard turbo would pull?
I've done some logging it peaked at 37psi boost and just over 300g/s on maf. Feels strong if it's not mapped and if dpf/cat gone it would need a remap?

All advice appreciated thanks in advance

No advice out there?

If the exhaust was missing the dpf, or the 'cats', then I would have thought it would fail the mot. If you can put the car on a dyno, or have Audi examine the ecu, you might find out if its had a remap. Only if you have the latter then Audi will put a TD1 against the car if they discover a remap..

Thanks. It's booked in for a rolling road next week

Chances are it’s been mapped, 37psi sounds like a lot ... can the stock turbo even do that without blowing up?

Take it to a remap shop or measure your fuel injection quantity against stock .

Turns out car has a mild map. Around 300bhp and 500lbft . No tcu flash either. Given its got a turbo back exhaust. Missed performance opportunity and low numbers???

I’m sure they remap to 320-330hp and 680nm on just a map ...

Im getting a remap next week, a4 3.0 v6 272, been told to expect 310-320bhp and 650nm

Does this seem about right for a stage 1. I do alot of motorway miles for work, and spend most of my time in eco mode, switching to dynamic when i hit the fun roads. Is the engine easily in its parameters with a stage 1 and not going to start causing problems?

From what I've read seems right and qell within tolerances

Also got myself a 3.0 272! Looking at upgrading with Mods and a remap. Wondering how the car would sound with maybe a CAT back so it’s still MOT compliant? Anyone seen any video/sound clips of this? There doesn’t seem to be many of us 272 owners around!

From what I've read and seen doesn't really change the note anything after cat. Dpf/cat removal is the only way to generate noise as these dampen 90% of the noise

yeah that’s what I’ve heard, wonder if it would liven it up even a little? Haha!
How do people get their cars through MOT’s without Cats/DPF?

Fellow 272 owner here!

Very underated variant of the b9!I

Mines mapped by dms to 340bhp 750nm and it's a beast. 0 60 in around 4.3 seconds using launch.

I'm on 94k miles and it's still pulling strong. Always use v power.

I've got a dtuk pedal box and tmc tcu tune on the gearbox also and it's a fine combo!

If you don't mind me asking

What did your dms cost and how Long take to complete? Is it a generic or custom map?

What is the tmc like to use (self loaded?) How does it compare feature wise and what cost like?

Does the pedal box make much difference once tcu and ecu done?

Please inbox me if you don't want to.share details publicly

The DMS map was around £400 if I remember correctly.

They sent someone out to remap the car on my drive. I'm led to believe it's a custom map as they made quite a few changes a couple of times.

It took less than an hour to do the whole proccess.

The tmc motorsport tcu module was £300 and you plug it in to the obd whilst it uploads the new data. That takes about a minute or so to do.

The pedal box does make a massive difference in my opinion, the ecu remap delivered quite a bit more power and torque and the tcu remap helped to manage that power really well.

I'd say the pedal box is like the icing on the cake as it really sharpens the whole driving experience and makes it even easier to drive rapidly with barely any effort.

Thanks for that

You don't officially. I've been looking at the darkside "race dpf" and "race 200cell cat" . Both can be had for £500 and claim 50% better flow than stock. I'm hoping it could be the in-between for performance and mot compliance.

I'm surprised the tcu is done through the old. I thought tcu remaps are done direct with the gearbox module? Was there any changes you could make to the tcu or is it pre set

I've also read a good ecu remap cam do the pedal box changes/improvements. Don't know if ita true

The tcu remap was simply a obd adaptor from tmc motorsport that plugs into the obd

Whilst it's plugged in you wait less than a minute and it starts beeping to let you know the file has been uploaded.

You then take it out, turn the ignition off then start the engine to idle for 5 minutes and ur supposedly then good to go!

It then says to drive the car for 50 miles in all gears and different driving styles, which I did by hammering it down the motorway.

Either way I definitely felt a difference, it sharpened up the whole driving experience and made it nicer and smoother to drive.

Turned out the map I had was a cut corners type of map. Went to Bobby singh at bsr and has transformed the car. Smoother, faster, safer and pulls like a train. Had the tcu done too and absolutely compliments ecu

Hello mate did you ever get it on the dyno?

Cheers
