Hey Guys,

Just wondering if all B5 quattro front subframes are the same? I believe the S4/RS4 subframes are different but what about the standard quattro ones? I've got a TQS and I'm looking to get another subframe to powder coat etc.

Cheers

Hi there - a bit of googling shows that the part number is 4B0399313DC which is not unique to the quattro or the A4 B5 - seems that the passat and possibly Skoda of a similar age fwd used the same front subframe. Hope this helps? ps i guessed at 1.8T 150hp when googling.
Cheers Andy

Thanks for your info Andy. I was hoping someone would suggest that they're the same as the FWD subframes. I'll need to do my own digging and check some part numbers :icon thumright:

So I've done some more digging on subframe part numbers on 7zap and this is what I've come up with...

Facelift 98-02 4 Cylinder:

4B0 399 313 DK - EHW, FTK gearbox
4B0 399 313 CS - DWR, DWQ, ENP, EEP gearbox
8D0 399 313 BK - DWR, ENP gearbox
4B0 399 313 DJ - DTT gearbox

Facelift 98-02 6 Cylinder:

4B0 399 313 DH - DWM, DWN gearbox
4B0 399 313 DE - DSY, FRQ gearbox
4B0 399 313 DC - DQT, FTF gearbox

DWR is the gearbox code for the TQS so I assume I need a subframe with the part no. 8D0 399 313 BK or 4B0 399 313 CS having said that, I believe all 4 cylinders had 5 speed manuals or automatics so I assume that any subframe from a 4 cylinder 5 speed manual would work? Happy to be told otherwise. I'm also assuming I can't use a subframe from a 6 cylinder car?

Is there anything I may have missed or that I'm not taking into account?

Cheers

Looking at the diagrams there are two different mounts on the gearbox for the left hand side of the box. My front wheel drive A4 uses item 4 which has a single bolt hole on the subframe, but I'm not sure if the quattro boxes use the other mount (9) if that's the case then the front wheel drive subframe won't work on quattro models.

If it were me id only get the subframe designated for your gearbox code. As above B5 nut has identified a possible difference in gearbox mounting but there may also be other differences with exhaust clearances etc.

Thanks for your advice guys, I appreciate you pointing this stuff out. I'll stick to a part no. with my gearbox code and keep researching.
