Audi S3 to VW Golf R - Am I a joke to you?

Still to this day haven't seen the new supra on the road

I had never seen any either until a few weeks ago, then strangely I saw 3 all within a couple of days.

Silver one, yellow and white. White looked the best in my opinion.

Yeah, it’s not a nice shade of yellow. I loved my A35 in yellow, but the Supra is a no.

yeah the shade makes or breaks a colour.
Merc nailed the shade and Audi do a nice yellow too but the supra just looks really flat

Would get more if l advertised it mate but l am a man of my word so myself and the new owner are going with the asking price of which l think is very fair considering what l see some private sellers are trying to sell their similar optioned/mileage S3's for, but they cant touch my own car for spec or condition not boasting but there are 2 on Autotrader that are asking for £2000 more than the price l asked for

It's the only car l have owned that l have felt a personal attachment too it was a bit of journey from the start but hey ho....here we go again chasing cars lol

You can't pick your family mate .lol
Wish him luck.:icon thumright:
A bit tricky playing about with steering wheels ect. Especially if warranty comes into play.
You might have to travel down south to get a company to retrofit it for you?
Failing that ask your boy to help you out. He must have some contacts surely??

Continues to impress.

0 to 60 in 4 seconds.

R dash looks ace.

adaptive dampers work great.

Definitely an all round package ....

Audi really seem to have dropped the ball on the new S3 from the reviews I’ve seen, the previous gen Golf was already seen as the more driver focused car and now it seems to retain that title along with better performance too.

Personally, I think the interior is what used to draw people towards the S3 I know I preferred my 8V interior over the equivalent Golf R in that regard. But I think that’s fairly equal now too, both look about the same (not a massive fan of either to be honest). Personally I think Audi is behind Merc with regard to interiors and tech now.

I’d love to know what goes on at Audi HQ, some strange decisions, not opting for the same engine as the Golf R is a odd one and of course diesel S models etc etc :tearsofjoy:

Adding yet more weight to the Golf R’s strength ... quite amazed at this considering the bhp deficit

I’m wondering if the Golf is pumping more bhp & torque than VW quoted as it’s down 100 bhp & 80 NM torque on the Merc 45s.

I wonder how the S3 will fair up against it.

The Golf as surly got to be pushing more power than 316hp to do as well as it did against the Merc .

The new S3 v new R will be interesting viewing .

The Golf R reviews are great but £40k plus for a Golf is bonkers, especially with that interior, it’s not terrible but it’s not premium.

So is the S3 though and I wouldn’t say it’s a better looking car, only has the 4 rings going for it now a days.

But yes I agree 40k for a hot hatch is starting to become the norm which is mad, you can get a very nice used sports car for that sort of money. Personally don’t think I’d ever buy new again, I did with my first S3 and didn’t loose much but I did get nearly 25% discount off list price which helped.

Depreciation is just a scary thing to me, my S5 that I’ve got now cost 27k, at just under 3 years old with 14k miles. The previous owner who spec’d it right up from new got the price up to nearly 60k, I couldn’t imagine loosing that much money in 3 years... not that it mattered much to him apparently he chopped it in for a new RS7 :tearsofjoy:

The interiors of the Golf 8 and the 8Y A3 may look similar on the screen, but the Golf is not as nice a place to be as the Audi IRL. I say that as someone who had his heart set on a new Golf, but ended up paying more for the Audi for that very reason. You get more for your money with the Golf, but the Audi cockpit is much more intuitive to use and a significantly smarter looking place to be. My advice to anyone thinking of buying a Golf as an alternative to the Audi is to make sure you test drive it (or at least sit in it and play with the displays) sooner rather than later. (That said, if your main concern is how fast the car goes then it might not be worth paying more for the Audi.)

Completely agree, I think the Golf is better looking overall, prefer the dash layout, may be not the seats and the exterior pips it.

Would be interesting to see the latest S3 and R in a drag race. Still find it odd that the S3 doesn’t have the same output as the R.

The pricing really has got silly, especially when fundamentally the S3 and R are very similar to the previous models on public roads.

its just those HUGE lights on the S3 which put me off the exterior ...

Default exhaust tips on the base configuration looks horrible I think, very cheap, like a fake aftermarket exhaust on some Hyundai.

Or is it just me?

I passed a white one yesterday and I did think the colour white masked the huge lights.......

As someone said to me yesterday though, it will need to be white inside to mask that dash

I’m sorry it’s a terrible looking car in any colour, I walked round a saloon and sportback at the local dealership last weekend and they are both absolutely awful looking.

If you think any different, get down to specsavers immediately.

The GR8 is surfing on the crest of a selected media wave at the moment the MK7 R was the same, for some reason l think VAG have a lot of the selected media in their pockets as there's not really a bad thing said about it, look closely at its interior for example the rear its ****** dreadful l noticed the rear of the optional leather front seats appalling cheap plastic is used ...dozen other examples it does look good externally though lack of colour choice is pants

Not being funny, other than the quad tail pipes, it looks like a base spec car doesn’t it ... no resemblance to what an S3 should look like at all.

My S3 8v saloon was a base spec model. But at least you knew it was an S3...
18" alloys on a saloon S3??? Doesn't work for me I'm afraid:sadlike:

Exactly ... an A3 vorsprung with the groovy alloys looks more aggressive & purposeful than the S3 in that video. It looks like an A3 sport not even s line.
